Most trafficking and polluted area in Kathmandu. The traffic may be because of road work under work in progress , which was a joint collaboration by Nepal and China. There is no municipal casualtoes for cleaning of roads in this area , that's the main reason for heavy garbage and dust on roads

Kalanki – Koteshwor portion of Ring Road has been under process of widening and upgrading in 8 lane with the support of Peoples´ Republic of China. Kalanki--Koteshwor section of ring road is under progress for expansion.
This project is initiated in June 2013 and will be accomplished in July 2018 that has been one year delayed than its initially fixed deadline. This project is supported by China Aid, Shanghai Construction Group which is the contractor of this project. The Chinese government has provided a grant of Rs. 5 Billion which includes technical and financial support to develop the project.

The government of Nepal has also invested Rs. 160 million in the project in the last two years. Completion date was pushed back by a year to July 2018 due to the shortage of construction materials, the devastating earthquakes of 2015 and also fuel crisis due to the unrest in the Tarai region.

The project has planned to expand the existing bridges at Kalanki, Balkhu, Bagmati and Ekantakuna. 3 out of 10 pedestrian overhead bridges planned are also about to be completed. This project covers 9.5 km (Koteshwor-Kalanki) section of Ring road and will be 50 meters wide with 8 lanes. The project also includes pavements along the road, drainage construction, street lights, painting signs on the road and bike line.

The Ring Road serves as a vital transport link in the Kathmandu Valley which badly needs to be expanded to cope with the number of vehicles who use it. This will be a very beneficial for transportation in days to come when it gets completed. Taken in third week of December 2017 / January 19,2018

Around here you can take microbus to pohkara. It is possible to take it in Gongabu as well. Here you avoid all the way around the ring road
