Such a beautiful temple with cultural and historical significance. But I was appalled by the amount of pollution in and around the area. The pond nearby was dirty and serving as a breeding ground for all kinds of vectors. People were relieving themselves right on the pond!
Hope the temple authorities and Janakpur city residents come together to make the place beautiful again.

Historical place. But poorly managed temple and surrounding area is too filthy and dirty. How could they let vendors sell things inside temple premise. Such a shame. Totally concrete jungle around the temple so so that you cannot see the temple itself even from 100 meters distance unless you reach the gate of temple. Even the whole city is unbearable. Gross. Filthy. Dirty. Smelly. Torturous. And the most shameful thing is that some notices inside the temple is written in Hindi. What??? Such a Shame. This temple lies in Nepal not India.

It was also called Nau Lakhaa Temple because it was made in Rs. 9,00,000 INR only at that period of time. This Temple is of Lord Dasrath's son Lord Rama and his wife Lord sita with some other Gods, Lord Laxman, Lord Hanuman. A highly maintained Temple of Janakpur, Nepal. The President of India Mr. PRANAV MUKHERJEE also gave his visit couple of years back. A must visit Temple of entire Nepal. A very well constructed Temple. A very spacious, neat and clean Temple.

It is an example of Hindu-Koiri Nepali architecture. It is often considered the most important model of Koiri architecture in Nepal. Fully built in bright white and constructed in an area of 4,860 sq. feet in a mixed style of Mughal and Koiri domes, the temple is 50 meters high.[2] It is a three-storied structure made entirely of stone and marble. All its 60 rooms are decorated with the flag of Nepal, colored glass, engravings and paintings, with beautiful lattice windows and turrets. According to legends and epics, King Janak ruled this area (called Videha) during the Ramayana period. His daughter Janaki (Sita), during her swyambar, had chosen Lord Rama as her husband, and become queen of Ayodhya. Their marriage ceremony had occurred in the nearby temple.
