  Management of acute alcohol poisoning

  1) monitor the vitals- pulse, Bp, temperature, respiration(alcohol act on CNS to alter the vitals) 2) infuse dextrose 🍫 or dextrose with normal saline(DA or DNS 5%) to counter hypoglycemia and ketoacidosis 3) monitor the vomitting 🤢 tendency (as patient is mostly unconscious so vomitus can aspirate)- give anti emetic even if vomiting is absent. Eg Ondansetron... 4) inj thiamine I/V to prevent wernicke korsakoff syndrome🤯 5) manage electrolytes balance if any(hypokalemia may occur in presence of excessive vomiting 🤮)
