GEMS School was established in 1984 in Sanepa, Lalitpur with 78 students and 25 staff members. Initially, classes from Nursery to grade III were offered. Today, it has become a full-fledged higher secondary school running classes from grade one to twelve. Upon completion of the construction of its own school complex at Dhapakhel, which is 1.5 kilometers away from Sat Dobato point on the Ring road, it shifted all classes from four to ten from Kiran Bhawan, Sanepa to the new complex in August 2000. However, the primary classes from grade I to II are still run at Kiran Bhawan, Sanepa for both day scholars and boarders.

Great teachers and beautiful campus. The canteen is also v good. A huge campus with multiple large sport facilities and computer and huge science laboratories which is hard to find in most schools

Yeah people might say this is the most popular school in Nepal, but hear it from a student this is THE WORST school in the history of schools out there. First of all, students are pretty much treated like objects, or more like animals, students are dehumanized to the point of extinction. And don’t get me started on the teachers, THEY ARE THE WORST. It is said that a good teacher can ingnite hope and imagination and instill a love of learning. But this definetly does not apply to the teacher of GEMS.

I was a teaching faculty at the time I was doing my Masters some 4/5 years ago. This school is simply fantastic. Location is great, it lies in outskirts of chaotic Kathmandu city. I had fun working here. Is not it fantastic to attend 5 picnics in 10 month stay??? I still miss my colleagues from this little wonderful place.
