  One of the high passes on the three passes trek. I'd highly recommend taking micro spikes, especially if ice/ snow weather is expected. The route is very steep and will be slippery if there is snow/ ice. You'd have to buy these in advance (i.e. in Kathmandu/ Namche).

  Gorgeous pass and great way to get from Lobuche to Gokyo!!
  Seems easier to do from Dzongla to Dragnak because its a more gradual uphill climb on the day but can be done in either direction. Finding the route over the pass can be quite tricky, from Dzongla side at the end of the valley it goes up to the right through a steep rocky section then bends left onto the glacier portion, and from Dragnak side it is a long uphill slog then a massive boulder-field that can be tricky to navigate. Also the pass is often covered in snow and can have high avalanche risk so do your research before you go.
  Sometimes porters cross the pass with loads and will then leave a trail in the snow, we saw some leaving Dzongla at 6am on the morning we crossed, so if someone that knows the route has gone ahead and left a trail you will be fine but still be careful because they might be lost also. Best to hire a porter/guide to get you safely over, talk to Mingma at the EcoLodge in Lobuche, he is a wonderful man and very helpful.

  The pass is not after the first big climb, but one has to cross a glacier part and the descent is quite steep initially.
