I am from Bangalore India, I felt this Kathmandu zoo is much better than zoom in Bangalore. We'll maintained, we can see animals in close approximately. Though it was small zoo, just need some two to three hours to cover all. You have boating option, elephant ride. Main Attraction hippopotamus, rhymes, tigers.

it's quite small compared to most zoo's and only tales about an hour to go through but it's nicely laid out and you get to see a bunch of different animals ranging from birds through to sheep . Price for the whole thing is 100 rupees for an adult. There is an ok cafeteria onsite which offers burgers and sandwiches and stuff for lunch.

One of the place to be in Kathmandu. Lake where u can boat. Varieties of animals. Crocodile, tiger, hippo, rhino are some who excite me. Birds species r there as well but mostly repetitive. Good place for kids and for family. Fee to enter is expensive i guess. A cobra and a python too living here.

Generally, zoo is somewhere I won't recommend going to, national parks and reserves would be better. But, if you want to go or take children/siblings to observe various animals at one place, it is a good option. Here are flying birds to emu and bears to hippos. It will take you a complete hour if you walk through every animal spaces and read the details. Further, this is the only zoo in Nepal as far as I know.

A good small zoological park located south of peaceful city Lalitpur. A total of 30 minutes of walk around the zoo will take you to through small animal sanctuary of several deers, crocodiles, rhino, Bengal tiger, several leopards and cats, 50+ bird species, ostrich, reptiles, snakes and few aquariums. Also included plus activities are Elephant Riding, Boating, Parks, Cafe Areas, Kids play zone, photo booths and information center. This is a must visit place for every first timers to the Kathmandu Valley.

Fantastic place to spend a few hours to relax, especially if you plan on trekking any of the summits, Everest BC or ABC.

We visited in early December, blessed with fantastic weather and although it was busy with school kids, enjoyed strolling and seeing all the animals, including close-up opportunity with the Elephant.

Recommend to bring a packed-lunch or have light meal beforehand, although plenty of shops within close proximity.

Superb value for money, but don't expect luxury as the facilities are basic though adequate.

Good place for family hangout. But, do not expect much like a managed zoo. Good as a greenery and park.

It would be very crowded at holidays and weekends.

Boating is a good experience though water is not very clean. Elephant riding is also worth trying here.

Hygiene conditions of most of the animals are not up to the mark.

Good watches here could be one horned rhino, hippopotamus, Bangal tiger and Ostriches.

Its not a bad place to be, but its not a place you want to visit again and again. The zoo is great to bring your kids but its not a place to look forward to.

The cages are small and that might make you a little sad, but you can get a one year family membership for 1000 rs ($10). It's a fun place for the kids to see the animals close up. Plus there are lots of beautiful birds.

We really enjoy the zoo, it is a fun outing for our kids. It is not necessarily an 'amazing' venue, especially compared to other zoos around the world, but a fine day outing. If you are a resident, I highly recommend getting the family pass, as it is very inexpensive and gives you access every day they are open and the freedom to go for an hour or stay all day.

Well, what can I say? It is the only zoo in the Valley and the largest one in the country. Though not an ideal place to see wild animals, it is the only place so near to my home. So what can I complain about? Although, I do hope they increase the area, make a bit more room for animals to be a bit more free, add recreation and well improve overall.

The central zoo need a lot of maintenance. The staffs must be properly trained in handling the animals as well as customer service. Sometimes there are no animals in the cage, which is kind of annoying because I was trying find the animal to discover it was not even in the cage. The elephant ride is probably one of the best features about this zoos.

Great place to see some revival animals. The boat ride was fun but the pond was on rough shape. We went there for the elephant ride and they closed early. They also need to work on their customer service skills. Other than that, we really enjoyed seeing all the animals there.

I love visiting this place with my family frequently. My daughter is able to learn animal names and identify them. Appreciate banning plastics bags in zoo. Perfect place for visiting during weekends.

Nice place to spend a couple of hour out of the crazy traffic and the noise of the city.
A place to stroll in peace more than a place where to see animals.there are not so many animals, and the cages are so sad!
But walking around and spend time there is relaxing. Kids can run.
