Great viewsif you want to hike down to the waterfall it's better to park down near car park 3 on the maps.
This massive waterfall outside of Eidfjord is not only stunning up close, but even from a considerable distance. From the viewpoint up above the fall, the true magnitude of the massive fall can be appreciated. Even way up above the falls, the power of the water is felt with mist spraying up. This incredibly long fall is one of the most viewed tourist destinations in Norway and is powered by all of the ice melting from the mountains above the fjords.
Beautiful expansive views from the roadside or at Fossli Hotel. We happened upon this during vacation in early July. Did not stay at the Fossli hotel but parking there is free as well as access to walk out to the viewing areas. Had I known more about this spot, I would have opted to stay in the hotel a night or two.
It's fine. You can either get a view of it from the top or hike to it from the bottom. The hike is a half hour each way (hour roundtrip). I went in mid October and all the leaves had already fallen and everything just looked kinda dead. I'm sure visiting another time of year is more breathtaking.
Must-see in Norway. Best viewed from viewing platforms in front of Fossli Hotel. Stay a night at the hotel so you can have best views both at twilight and also in daylight the next morning.
You feel so small
Amazing climb to the top of the fall. Impressive!
A beautiful waterfall with a tourist friendly access and a magestic view.
It´s probably the most spectacular waterfall in Norway. Nevertheless, the surroundings are rather unsafe, there are many ways to get closer to the waterfall, but some some of them are quite dangerous. Since the access to the waterfall from the R7 is very easy, this site is definitely recommended.
A beautiful waterfall !!! Definitely worth a visit!!! Especially to approach him through the back (through the hotel Fossli). Then you see at least the entire waterfall. When we were there, the railings were renewed for safety. Awesome view which takes your breath away! Also very cool that you can look through the whole valley, without there being cultivated.
