This was a wondrous visit. Set amid ravishing scenery on the most narrow fjord in Norway, the village is a living museum. The guides display great expertise because they are actually living and working in this encampment. While it is still a work in progress, it is the best way to experience the rich Viking heritage in context and setting. A meal was cooked for us over wood fire and served by candlelight in the hall. There was a little fun interactive gameplay afterwards with axe throwing and archery. Coupled with the drive through breathtaking scenery, this was a grand and glorious day of delight.

Do you like to go back and revisit how the vikings lived? How the Norse wad making their lives? The Viking marked is a great place to do so. This one is more based on sales, so you can do some good deals here.. Get some cool items.

This is such a wonderful little operation. I was expecting this to be far more tourist camp than substance, but it's been pulled together in such a wonderfully authentic manner in such a peaceful part of the fjord that you truly feel like you are being transported back in time.

The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful - in particular the Scottish storyteller and the monk.

Stop by, enjoy yourself, and take one of the tours (included in the cost of admission and seem to start at the top of each hour).

In mid-June 2017 the place is still empty, construction is ongoing and very few things are on display. Nothing is commented or signposted. The guides are very good indeed; without them the visit would be a complete waste of time and money.

Very authentic setting, super friendly peoole, nice food and shop to buy Viking stuff. Guided tours are a must as so informative and fun

The permanent Viking Village will open for business in May 2017
