Way more interesting than the name suggests. Anyone with an interest in transport and or engineering could easily pass half a day here and still have things left to see. It is really two (or more) museums in one. Firstly the construction and maintenance of Norway's road network through time (many machines outdoors, plus a rock tunnel exhibit and indoor exhibition), but also a record of life on and by the road including old buildings transported to site and reassembled - I think the English translation "road" doesn't fully do the Norwegian idea justice The staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, keen to explain or run some of the various mechanical exhibitsanyhow, it is entirely free to visit, so give it a try if you are nearby.
Quite good museum that exhibits the history of roads in Norway. Free so if you got the time it is well worth it.
It is a very nice museum, where it is possible play and interact.
Impressive museum about the history of Norwegian road construction. It is going to be enlarged with a vehicles pavilion that will host dozens of cars and working machines, all restored. It also has a nice open air path with thematic buildings. Super interesting!
Flott sted, masse aktiviteter og mye å oppleve. Gratis inngang :)
Absolutly beatifull. Must see for everyone, not only petrol heads!
Great museum
Top tip: Go straight to Rock Blasting Museum area for a guided tour of how Norwegian tunnels are made. It is in an actual tunnel made by industry volunteers. Our guide was the most enthusiastic young woman who loved her gigantic machines.
Vero nice museum, and it's free to visit
