A man walks into a bar (at the Thief), but unlike the start of a joke there is no punchline, just a very confusing experience and a leaking Viking horn! The Thief really broke the mould for Oslo, it wasn't only a new five star hotel but a Mecca of steel, glass and what appears to be the private art collection of Al Pacino's character 'Scar Face' shipped from his drug compound in Miami. Like everyone I wanted to get in on the action and pay them a visit, so on a cold, windy Oslo evening I called my most stylish friend and we rocked up. The welcome was good, but like all good Scandi dramas things got dark pretty quickly. All of the seats in the bar were clearly built by little elves, I even made a joke to the waiter as I sat on a 4 inch tall faux leather metallic gold mushroom- he didn't share my enthusiasm and neither did the hand full of confused faces and ladies of the night staring out at me across the desolate room. I chose a Viking cocktail and my friend something with Seabuckthorn which sounded cool. The Viking was served in a Viking horn which leaked when unsheathed from its wooden mount, giving me the choice of my shirt getting wet or my face Getting wet- I aimed for both, for the fully immersive experience. My friends drink was served in a bizarre, shiny rose gold owl which weighed 4kg and fearured a Haribo sour Cherry on the side. I know what you're thinking- It's important to state we were not on narcotics at any point during the evenings experience. Finally we paid and left- saying a very loud "thank you and goodbye" to the two staff who completely ignored us as they were talking- possibly about a new cocktail that is served from a tractor tyre. I gave this review 2 stars as at least the waiter seemed like a nice guy. What makes me sad however is the execution of what could have been a great experience. Drop the silly cocktails and miniature strip club furniture and train the staff. Focus on the basics- comfort, service and quality. All we both wanted was a good cocktail served from a glass by professionals- and due to the lack of other customers in the bar many people share
my vision. Granted I stayed with one of the more traditional competitor hotels to the Thief on this visit so cannot comment on the stay, however from experience if you cannot do the small things in life right, you will never be able to do the big things in life right.

Nice hotel, but the roof terrace is great with view in several directions, both to the old castle and west where the sun set. During summer there are often lice music, check it out. Nice place for a drink with you loved one.

If you like the W Hotel vibe, you'll love it here. Swanky, trendyand pricey (even for Oslo). In a relatively new waterfront development with lots of restaurants nearby. Staff very friendly and engaging. Home of the $20 movie-themed cocktailif you're into that sort of thing.

Great stay. The bed was so comfortable. The breakfast was amazingly diverse. Seeing to everyone's needs such as glutenfree, lactose or vegan options. Simply amazing!

Very nice hotel with helpful staff. The room was tight on space but had a good view with a nice small balcony. Comfortable bed, turndown service leaves you good tea we enjoyed our stay.

I prefer fruity cocktails so I ordered "Clash of the Titans" and "Buffalo Soldiers." Both were great! Tip: if you plan to order both as well, get Clash first before Buffalo. Clash is clean, light, fruity, and refreshing while Buffalo has chocolate in it so it's a bit richer

Outstanding hotel in A1 location right on the water and within a short walk to the contemporary museum and fantastic shopping. A wonderful welcome awaits from the friendly staff and the beds are comfortable and to die for (i want one at home) beautifully laid out rooms with coffee machine and every little detail is noticeable. This is a world class hotel within an absolutely stunning and beautiful city. Highly Recommend.

Possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Beautifully designed, packed full of luxury items. Very good service, both from the hotel staff and the restaurant staff. Delicious breakfast with homemade and local food. Would recommend dinner at their restaurant Fru K.

Very nice hotel in a good location but be careful because there are things the hotel does not say for example it says child friendly but children under 16 are not allowed in the pool, gym or saunas even if accompanied by an adult. It also gives the impression that all rooms have a harbour view but many rooms do not. We had a view of a brick wall although they did move us and upgraded free of charge.

This hotel is fantastic. Spacious room and lots of attention to detail. Beautiful decor and great view. The morning breakfast is a must with tons of delicious options, but unfortunately I believe the coffee is instant. The bar on the first floor is also amazing (but pricey) and has an amazing lineup of specialty cocktails that you won't regret. Worth the price.
