I would describe this as the funky nexus of the Lofoten Islands. It's a classic backpackers hostel with a great location and a huge communal kitchen / dinning room. It's probably the cheapest place to sleep indoors in all of Lofoten Islands. The owner is a character out of a movie with plenty of stories and advice but he might not introduce himself as the owner so keep an eye out for an older guy who is likely to start talking to you out of the blue. Also look for the nearby WWII ruins.

This hostel is actually a fisherman's cabin run by a fantastic guy named Roar. Its an usually awesome hostel and we had a great time here. Its quite cheap relative to Norway standards. We met wonderful fellow backpackers here. The central hall downstairs gives a family atmosphere and it has a sea-view from rooms. We even saw Northern Lights from the front cabin.

Roar is a humourous conversationalist and sometimes even lends his fishing boat and car. We made unforgettable memories in Lofoten and this hostel played a big role in that.

Due to unexpected weather we had to take a night in the hostel. The staff is funny, kind, cordial and really helpful. The hostel has an awesome flair (wood stove, guitars) and absolutely fair prices (bring your sleeping bag liners). You even can borrow a small rowing boat. Next time we make a trip to the Lofoten, we definitely spend a night in this hostel again :).

After 12 years, I am steadily dreaming of going back there, remembering the pure air, the silence, the one step into the ocean which was transparent and calm like a mirror, the old fisherman opening his house and heart for especially young people coming from all over the world, cooking and eating together, such a peaceful place! I came with my young family and stayed in a clean and cosy cottage.

This is by far the best hostel I've ever been to! It is located in really old houses at the dock, and the rooms are very beautiful and comfortable: the two living rooms are big enough to accommodate several persons eating at the same time. The atmosphere is very friendly an in more than one occasion we shared the food together at dinner.
During the four days I was there I met people from France, Switzerland, Canada, US, England, Spain, Germany and Italy as myself.
The owner of the hostel, Roar, is quite a curious man, and if you ask him you can also rent one of the boats to go fishing.
I really hope to come back here soon: maybe next year, who knows?
