Very poor lunch option. We spent an afternoon there and stopped there for lunch. A very limited menu with only meat, meat, meat and fish soup. No line fish or any veggie option, or even veggie side dishes. I asked for a an alternative and the dinner menu was presented - a veggie curry with Shrimps and Scallops.!!! Vegatarianism is entirely lost here. I was offered line fish with vegetables (still very hard for me as I try to stay 100% veggie) and the fish came out like a piece of leather. I was really surprised that in Norway, a hotel chef working with the freshest seafood would overcook a fish until it was tough. Service is slow and the staff seemed under prepared, Only go if you eat burgers and steak and are not in a rush
Cosy place
Stunning views from the room
Cozy hotel with great service and a great view of the fjord. Lady at the reception is super welcoming, friendly, kind, and sincerely helpful. It was a very pleasant stay.
The hotel is 10-minute walk from the Rosendal Pier. There is a supermarket halfway and there is a hiking path just across the hotel.
*760 is the bus that goes around the area, but they don't accept credit cards or euros so be sure to bring enough Norwegian krones.
Nice dinner, I had the sausages the others had the burger or fish soup. We all enjoyed our meals. The service was excellent.
Nice view to the fjord. Clean rooms and friendly staff.
The best hotel in this area!
Rosendal is about 2 hours by car from my hometown Bergen and one of the most beautiful places on the west part of Norway surrounded by majestic mountains. Rosendal Fjordhotel is the best hotel in this area.
The room my wife and I got (room no. 252) had a large bay windows affording beautiful views of the Hardangerfjord (see my attached photos). Rooms are of average standard but the bed was comfortable and we slept well! Bathrooms are from “the 80ties” but are still functioning OK. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
I think the room rates are too high (1650 NOK) and even for Norwegians.
The restaurant overlooks the fjord (we got a window table for the dinner). We order the venison fillet and it taste good. The dessert (apple pie) was excellent!
Rosendal is beautifully situated by the fjord and surrounded by majestic mountains. There are several footpaths to the various mountain tops which I will recommend e.g. Bjørndalseter (650m), Melderskin (1426m) and Malmangernuten (890m):
The best thing with Rosendal Fjordhotell is the location. Right by the sea with a breath taking scenery. Recommended!
