Quirky, interesting hotel. While the rooms and so are not the most luxurious, this feels like a genuine place with a lot going on. They've got that nice bar and terrace up front, there's the old salon, they play music inside at times. My favorite part was the buffet: I've had many in Norway by now, and this is the very best one I've had. Everything just tastes so much better, the desserts are nicer, the choice is great, etc I'd go there again just for the food!

Scenery is really nice, but the rooms are a bit lackluster and old fashioned. But you do not visit this place to stay in the rooms anyway and the rest of the hotel is classy, with game rooms, swimming pool, pub and nightclub.

Hotel straand is a very beautiful hotel with lots of history and delicious food sadly the hotel is troubled with horrible service dirty rooms and outdated design. When we booked in we were given close to zero information about the facilities. We wernt welcomed for a 4 star hotel that is crappy. Our bed room was dated with dirty carpets and the pillows stank. We decided to order drinks how ever the bartender did not care who waited the longest. We waited 15 minuets for our drinks while a guest who just cut the line got served right away. Such a let down from such an old beautiful hotel.

Great experience staying here. My.family loved it. Great food, nice rooms and friendly staff. Not to mention the view! Stayed here during the time that most norwegian hotel staff were on strike (may 2016) but they still had excellent service. Thank you :)
