The Munch museum has lots and lots of Edvard Munch's works but the museum is rather small and they can't display it all of course. When we were there, a spacial exhibition was on display and hence we did not get to see the famous Scream. I think the Munch museum will be a lot better when it moves into the new museum located not far from the opera. Here they will have more space to display more of the works.
Good show. Love the fact they have sensory images for the blind.
The museum is wheelchair friendly , you will need the staff to lower ramps in auditorium.
The scream wasn't on display when I visited so I was a little disappointing; however, the remainder of Munch's work was certainly worth the visit. Viewing the works in chronological order and reading about the artist's life was very interesting.
Amazing collection. My knowledge of Munch was only about his masterpiece. In this exhibition it's possible to learn the fine art of great Norvegian Painter.
A hundred minor Munch canvases presented without labels or context in four rooms. You can see everything in seven dull minutes, during which you may mull over the many better ways to spend US$14. Oslo's National Gallery has all the famous paintings, and the KODE museum in Bergen tells much more about the artist.
It was Not possibile to see the scream because it was Not exposed in the exhibition. If you want to see this picture it is better to visit the national gallery
I would like to recommend going on this exhibition, and join a guide! It's a wonderful experience
Interesting museum about the Norwegian artist Munch. The videos about his life and works are very informative. Good selection of his art work through all mediums. A museum on the Oslo Pass list and an easy bus or subway ride to get to.
The museum exhibits a selection of Munch's works in a thematical manner along with other contemporaries. Exhibition space is small, therefore one should not expect to see a large number of paintings of the master.
Still I absolutely recommend. Opening hours are earlier compared to other museums, so I advise to start the day here.
One of the not-as-good galleries I've been to. The exhibition is rather small and what I saw was about Munch's influence on Danish painter Jorn so lots of the works were not Mumch's. Only took me less than an hour to finish. What's more the guards in the exhibition were quite distracting, taking loud and wondering. This is not like any proper museums I've seen in Paris or Denmark. The museum cafe was not well staffed and people had to wait in queue to get served. Probably better visit the National Gallery.
