Other than the long lines and fighting tourists who can’t handle lines, the train up to the mountains above Bergen from the harbor is awesome. The ride up is fairly short but impressive with a sharp ascent and views over the town as you go up. At the top is an incredible viewpoint directly above the city with views of the town and the water. It’s also a good starting point for a hike, bike ride, or just a walk back down to town. There are also cafes and facilities at the top. Definitely buy tickets online beforehand to avoid the long ticket lines.

Climbing up with the Floibanen is a must when you're in Bergen. To see the city between seven mountains. Very beautiful. We climbed up with the Floibanen, enjoyed the view, let the children played on the very neat playground, see some trolls, then walked down, back to city center.

Definitely recommend this on a sunny day. The views from the top are breathtaking. It costs 45 kr for one-way adult fare and 90 kr for round-trip. I recommend taking the ride up, enjoying the view, and walking back down. It is a lovely path, very picturesque and you get to see some waterfalls. We took the right path (there is a split at some point) and you are able to see the other side of Bergen. Up top you can also find some blueberries to pick and eat!

Return ticket for an adult is 90 NOK. View from the top is great. There are also paths that you can follow into the woods for a nice stroll. You can find a very clean restroom (free) with heating and hot water from the tap.

A 'tram' / cable car for very steep hills (23°),
with an amazing view over the entire city.
Definitely worth the ticket, but in the tourist season the line can be extremely long.

It was a beautiful winter day in January, we took the hike up the path leading to the top of Floyen, seeing many friendly faces along the way. At the top, we took in the scenery, and a beer on the deck. It was a fantastic day, and I would recommend it if the weather cooperates.
