Good atmosphere and chances to sample beers before you buy!
Cardinal is a cool historic bar in the historic downtown of Stavanger. Inside is a great craft beer bar nestled in a historic old wood paneled environment. The beer list is quite extensive with over a dozen Norwegian craft brews and a literal book of bottled beers from around the world. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the beers and can offer good suggestions based on other beers to match tastes. For beer lovers, it’s a must check out spot in the small town.
Very nice place to taste different beer, which they have a lot.
Lots of craft beers, but expensive (equivalent of £10-15 a pint). Nicely renovated. Surly service, when available. No food (only nacho crisps). Good place for a quick pint of one of the local craft beers.
Really great pub. It has a huge beer selection (quiet a few on tap, and a book of a menu for the beers they have out back), and if you get in the wifi you can see the menu in English.
Staff are friendly and offer suggestions if you aren't sure what you want.
They don't do food (you can get some nuts or chips) but I believe you can bring in food from other places (a large table near us ordered several pizzas from a place near by).
Highly recommended.
They have an enormous selection of beer. Friendly staff with an interest and that will help you find your new favorite.
A good place for a few beers. A bit more expensive than other bar, and usually quite crowdy even on weekdays. Its a nice place to sit down and have a nice evening with friends.
Great bar, appeared to have a cosy welcoming feel. Was very impressed with the glass washing, not sure if that is a Norwegian thing, but wish the bar staff in England would wipe smears and lipstick from the rim of the glass before washing. Not five star as there isn't anything unique, but good range of beers.
Great selection of beer, knowledgeable and serviceminded bartenders. The music is set on a level making it easy to have a conversation. Highly recommended.
