This is a really cool spot with permanent collections from Damien Hirst and other artists. The current visiting exhibition is slightly quirky more than contemporary but worth a visit. Architecture and location of this place is stunning though.

The museum is split over two buildings separated by a canal with the larger one holding travelling/temporary exhibitions the smaller one on the west side housing the permanent collection. The art works rotate since the collection is rather large however the permanent collection can be seen comfortably in about 30 minutes.

There are also Gardens on the East Building which includes sculptures and several paths to walk around affording a nice view of the city and Islands to the South. There is a small restaurant in the east building also has outdoor seating facing South and seems to have nice views.

You cannot walk from one building to the other without going outside (Beware that in the winter if the weather is cold this means you may have to take your jacket and belongings out of the lockers walk over to the other building and place them in different lockers). There is a more limited number of lockers in the West Building, but a large number in the east building (temporary exhibit building) so you may have to make a run for it without a jacket on.

Beautiful modern structure that houses visiting artists and a permanent collection of heavy hitters including Polke, Hurst and more. There's also a photography collection with Cindy Sherman and more. Great views of the harbour and sunset.

Good museum, didn't understand the main exhibition. But the second hall was interesting with artists I recognised. Worth a visit.

The site is wheelchair friendly with lifts to get to all levels.

I'm sure there are those who will love this place. But honestly it was a waste of money for me. The most enjoyable bit was the view from the outside/balcony and the gift shop. There were very few pieces / exhibitions within the museum (I think 8 or 9). And it wasn't obvious where those pieces even were. Sure let people walk around freely, with no specific direction. But somehow, no matter how hard we hunted, we never found two of the pieces.
Personally I wouldn't recommend it

The museum is worth the visit (and admission fee). One building has fixed exhibitions whilst the other has temporary ones. Nice area outside which is extra enjoyable in good weather. Recommended.

I really enjoyed this Museum and it's exhibits, it has the right size, not too large neither too small. It was wonderful to spend the afternoon here.

A beautiful area, the building itself is the best piece of art in the whole museum. Remember it's "modern art" so it is alot of strange sculptures and rooms set up to look like clubs, pools, etc. It's nothing if not interesting. They also have a decent cafe there and great views of the bay. It could be worth a visit, just don't expect to see lots of traditional paintings, or stay more than two hours

The museum itself is a lovely piece of architecture. The view was spectacular. It's not the most easy accessible place as the transit between the buses was quite difficult and there's a lot of walking to get to this place. However the art it was displaying was very interesting and more than make up for it. It has even got it's own app so you can listen to audio attached to some of the artwork. The sculptures in the park were also very interesting. It is a very well laid out place and just generally very pretty. I would definitely recommend visiting this museum if you are visiting Oslo.
