I was invited as a Visiting Fellow at the ABDLO in Wageningan in 1996 and had met up with many of the researchers, professors and academic staff at the ABDLO and the University of Wageningan. I was tremendously impressed by the world class teaching and research facilities at the University of Wageningan. Wageningen University offers a great study atmosphere and has a nice campus. Besides a great equipment of study materials, computers and working places, various cafes and canteens are located on the campus. Small classes and group work offers the opportunity to apply relevant topics/problems to theory. A great number of international students make Wageningen a multicultural city – there are a lot of cultural activities, organized by study associations as well as by the university.

Wageningen University offers a great working and study environment. Even though the number of students is gradually growing in the past years, the ratio of students and teachers/professors is still around 8:1. Thus, the small character and the direct working atmosphere is what I really appreciate here. You can always pass by any office or approch the professors directly. Another fact that made me feel comfortable at the WUR is the very international character.

I am luck enough to be the part of world 2nd best university in agricultural and environmental sciences. I am thankful to the team of supervision I have. They are really hard working team members, and they know how to drive with which pace. One can learn here too much.

Especially the new campus of Wageningen University (Forum, Orion etc.) is great! You have the possibility to sit and study almost in every building and, at least in Forum, there are also many computers available for use. But having said this, it could also be improved. Sometimes it would be nice to have quick access to a computer in Orion. Also the new e-wallet system (you need this for printing, coffee etc.) is not very convenient for international students, since uploading money can get quite expensive without a dutch bank card. Maybe it is possible to install an uploading machine that accepts cash somewhere on the campus. But overall it is a very nice University! :)
