I have followed a course of 26 lessons from Volksuniversiteit Amsterdam to get prepared for the Cambridge Proficiency in English exam. This June I went to Cambridge to take the exam and now I am a happy owner of the Cambridge Proficiency in English certificate with Grade A and 221 scores out of 230 possible :) Really proud, happy and thankful to Volksuniversiteit Amsterdam!

I have been following Dutch courses here and they've been great. The teachers are very professional and helpful, and my fellow students take the courses very seriously. Before my first course, I went to an intake, where I sat down with one of the Dutch teachers and my level of Dutch was assessed based on online courses and self-study. It was a very fair process and I was very happy about my placement.

Have been following many different type of Dutch courses since the last 7 years @ Volksuniversiteit Amsterdam. I have learned a lot and developed my Dutch from the very basic till my current level. I am proud with what I have been achieved so far. Thanks Volksuniversiteit! It is absolutely recommended esp for expats.

Don't bother taking a Dutch course here, it is a complete waste of money. They are also inflexible - I was put in a lower level course because they thought the one I wanted to sign up for (after the intake) might be too difficult. The lower level course was too easy, so I asked to be put up a level. No, it's not possible, nor is a partial refund. Dropped out because why waste money AND time?

I and others have taken dutch courses from here, and I would not really recommend it. It was a very passively ran course, where the only thing done in class was to check the answers of the previous homeworks, but also done in a passive manner. Ofcourse it could be that the specific lecturer in question may have been incompetent. However, after hearing stories from others, I have the feeling this is not a one person specific issue.
