Really great atmosphere and interior plus home made beer. Unique Haarlem experience and tradition. Must visit place.
Visited Jopenkerk on Oct 30, had planned to have dinner there but their restaurant is closed on Mondays. I had some bitterballens at the bar and a couple of beers (Milk Stout and a collaboration beer both very good). Nice location, right across the street from the bus stop I got off at (I'd traveled in from Amsterdam). Lively, packed with people, great beer list which I would have like to have tried more of but didn't have the time to do so. Would go back.
Excellent craft beer selection. Some with local flair and some that would fit right in at a US brewery. Food is original and exceeds expectations for this kind of place. Staff is helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.
Fun place. Great food and fantastic beer. Friendly staff and beautiful building it's a church. It's just heavenly.
Really great venue. Don't go to Haarlem without visiting this place. The building itself is really impressive, an old converted church in the center complete with stained glass windows, which sets a nice atmosphere. The food was good, but the main attraction is the beer! So many different selections, with something to fit most any taste. I especially appreciate the efforts to revive historical styles like koyt and hoppenbier. There are a ton of brews, including collaborations, that are difficult to find elsewhere. Ask for tasting pours and try your way around the menu. They also have a good selection of things for folks who don't like beer. You won't be disappointed if this is the only place you visit in Haarlem!
Great venue, brewery in the church. Outside seating, fab selection of their own beers. North Sea IPA is my favourite. A must visit in Haarlem.
If you are travelling to Haarlem, then this is the place to be. Simply brilliant. They had around 10 of their own brews on tap and a lot of other variants in bottles as well. An average pint will cost you 5 euros, but it's totally worth it. Beware that this place is very crowded in the evening, so you might have to wait till you get a table. Their food was just okay or probably I might have tried the wrong things. Do not order their fries, no matter what.
Go here to get a feel of the local nightlife.
The beers are great! There are a few gems among the (expected) IPAs. Inside, only
small plates are served and they are limited. Upstairs dining (requires reservations) and the outdoor cafe (usually crowded) both serve full dinner from the limited menu. The dinner was fresh and delicious! Well worth the wait.
I just love this place for beers (I never tried the restaurant). The beers taste amazing and they offer a very wide variety of them. If you don't know what to order ask the staff, most of them know what to recommend. Electronic music playing all the time.
Great brewery, a definite must if you're a beer lover and visiting Haarlem. An old church with a brewery behind, really good quality beer, not overpriced and variety for all. Four stars because the staff did not handle shift transition well and at times we felt ignored trying to get our beers or pay. Don't let that dissuade you. Will re-review when I'm back.
Great atmosphere inside and out. Food is average for a bar, but good beer selection
Very nice waiters! The beer menu is fantastic. Try them all. If you are eating try the bitterballen.
This place is great. The ambiance in an old church with huge stained glass windows is fantastic, and the beers were tasty as well.
SO MANY AMAZING BEERS!
Awesome craft beer with so many beers available Like 15-20.
Friendly and helpful bartenders are there to to help you decide, will let you try samples of anything before you get a pint or flight.
Decent food menu too!
The location is pretty cool too Set in an old church. Plenty of outdoor seating as well. MUST VISIT if you go to Haarlem Also recommend if you have a 4+hr layover at Schiphol Just a 20min bus ride.
Nice building, atmosphere is good, friday after working hours andsaturday evenings are pretty busy, but you can probably always find a place to stand. Nicer if you manage to get a spot at one of the long tables, though. The beer -of course- is great!
