Brilliant. Been on the Newcastle - Amsterdam trip about 10 times now, consistently good. Service is excellent and rooms are fine once you're used to them. I'd suggest taking a thin sheet/blanket with you as the rooms can be stuffy & warm!

Stayed in commodore de luxe suite and it was unreal. Nice spacious room and bathroom with a free mini bar with beer and soft drinks. Then access to a small lounge with free snacks, wine, champers, beer, water and even free breakfast. Wouldn't travel any other way.

Absolutely extortionate prices, struggled to find someone on the ship who could speak English properly, very little air conditioning - easily over heated. Was ignored when tried to make an order. Disgusting

The ferry is clean and feels safe. The commodore cabins are reasonably sized and worth paying the extra for. The showers are fantastic, torrents of hot water, better than most if not all hotels I've stayed in. Make sure you pre-book the meals before boarding or you'll pay a premium on board. The only downside is the boat can be really busy during the summer.

Awesome facilities and good prices on the mini cruises. Doing this again very soon. Check in very quick and staff are brilliant. Rooms are clean but small unless you pay for the Commodore suites.

Typical sing a long entertainment with the same songs every time I'm on board. Good craic though.
Staff all very friendly and welcoming.
If you have a lower deck room you could be kept awake by the dog hotel, with dogs barking all night.
The organisation of boarding at North Shields was spotted on this time around. Amsterdam was long queuing and frustration for parents and young children alike.
Buffet on the King is much better than the Princess. Princess is mayhem with so many sitting times. Queues are very long and chaotic.

The crossing is great (depending on the weather of course). Only lost one star because the online/phone service could do better (live chat, online amendment of booking, they even send a survey which didn't work) On board service is really good, always friendly and helpful. Cabins and the bathrooms are clean and sheets never smelled bad so far (have done 6 crossings so far). Some bunks show their age, but that's ok.

Good if basic accommodation and a relaxed crossing, especially for families. Food and drink prices onboard are extortionate but that seems to be how it works on all ferries. Good customer service but prices are high unless you buy well in advance. Do not use your mobile aboard while at sea because you will be charged a lot for data. Would use them again.

Everything is expensive but you can still had a good time if you play it smart. I didn't care for the buffet so I skipped it on the return voyage and just had a tasty pizza in the italian restaurant instead. Then finished the night at the bar with a couple of drinks. The cabins were better than I expected and I was able to sleep even with some movements of the boat being felt. The loading and unloading of the cars was also quite well managed even though it did take some time to go through customs and all.

First time on a cruise, but the mini cruise I took part in was such an amazing experience. Traveled from Newcastle to Amsterdam. When purchasing our ticket, we were given an option to take a coach which took us from the station to the port and the back again. Same when we arrived in Amsterdam DFDS coach took us from the port to the city, the back again. The ship left on time, we had a great weather, safety announcements were prompt and constant. The ferry had plenty of activities for both children and adults so there was never a dull moment. The rooms were clean with ensuite, with option to choose from a bunk bed to a double bed. The restaurant's were amazing but also quite expensive so I would recommend bringing some extra snacks, a bottle of a water and fruits onboard the ship to keep spending cost low. Highly recommended and great value for money for those who would like to do a short cruise.

Drink prices are quite high which is strange when you are in international waters, normal interior cabins are really hot and aircon doesn't really work. Showers are pretty powerful but if you're taller than about 5'6 you will struggle to stand up properly in there.

This is a nice ship however I would bring some boardgames to do yourself as the entertainment is general drinking. It is a long journey and prices are a little on the high side. Always pre book where you can as it will save you some monies.

Professional but friendly staff. Food onboard very expensive so do bring your own. Cabins are very small and for a taller guy the beds are uncomfortable due to it having a wall at the end. Showers are pretty good although you stand basically in the toilet.

You can get lucky by buying cheap tickets with a cabin online on different web and auction sites. Just be ready to dig deep in your wallet if you gonna do the 3day mini-cruise. It revolves around you spending a lot of money on board. The departure and arrival times are set around you having meals and drinks on board. They only travel with a speed of 30km p/h so you are arriving after breakfast. Their departure is set before dinner and not because of the tides. Do the math: 2x breakfast 17€ and 2x dinner 35€ = 104€ a person just on food. Drinks start with coffee 4€ a cup. If you are with a family of 4 you will spend 500€ easy on board. Actual time for shopping minus travel is approximately 4-5 hrs in Newcastle.
