We arrived at the hotel from an overnight flight from Canada and a car ride from Amsterdam airport around 1:30pm, exhausted with our two young children. The reception told us that the check in was only 3pm. Good thing that our members of my husband's family already arrived the day before so we had a place to wait until the room was ready.
If we stayed only for a night or 2, I would give the hotel a 4 stars, because the rooms were spacious and initially clean. Most problems only became apparent because we are staying for a week. The deduced point initially was because there is no way that we can use the swimming pool with our children. As other guests pointed out, it is open only in the morning from 9:30-11:30pm. Because of the jet lag, our children were only awake around 11 to noon. The Wifi signal was good inside the room and most of the time the connection was also fast. The location was great, a 5-min walk to the beach, where there are several cafes, small playstructure and a lot of places to get icecream. Larger playgrounds and nice restaurants were just a short drive away.
So the issues that we had hence the 2 stars :
- the air conditioning inside the room turned off from 10pm to around 6am. If we were asleep by this time, it would not be a problem, but because of the time change, by the time our kids fell asleep (around 12-1am), the room was hot and stuffy. We changed different settings but it still did not come back on. In the end, we had to open the windows, which made it noisy in the morning when we still wanted to sleep in.
- the housekeeping is terrible. The first two days, towels were changed and beds were made but that was it. The carpet was not vacuumed and there was no vacuum cleaner in the room for us to use for the kitchen and living area. On the third day, I left a 10 euro tip - I usually do this when I don't have any small currency, so we tip only once every couple of days. It was the only day that the room was clean. Despite this, the coffee pods were not refilled and neither was the sugar in the room. I did not need the creamer - because we had our children's milk, but it was not refilled neither. We wrote a note asking for those items the next day and I left 5 euros. This time, they got the items but the floor again was not vacuumed. Towels were replaced, but they forgot the bathroom floor mat.
Yes, we are still here while I am writing this review and I was contacted by the hotel personnel why I gave them only two stars. I voiced my issues and we will have to see if there is any improvement or not and I will update my review accordingly.
Update : So after talking to the hotel personnel, the manager came to our room to check on the air-conditioning settings. Of course, nothing was wrong there and he told us that he would check with the maintenance. That night, the air-conditioning stayed on until a little after midnight and restarted at 7am instead, which was a good improvement for us. The thing that I noticed was the last two days of our stay, there were more guests staying at the hotel, and the air-conditioning was on most of the night instead of turning off. At the same time, he brought us a lot of coffee pods and dishwasher tabs that we needed for the dishwasher. I would have preferred not to get them at the same time but rather have them refilled each day as needed, but oh well. The funny thing was, the next day, the housekeeping TOOK AWAY half of the coffee pods and ALL of the dishwasher tabs and we ended up having to go down everyday to ask for them again. But at least the carpet was vacuumed on one of the days. So this hotel really does have a problem with their housekeeping staff.response / report this review -

I personally only visited the restaurant and I must say that it's very classy.
It was far from busy so we got our food quite fast.

Wij zijn vorige week 2 nachten in het Amadore hotel geweest . Een tegenvaller tot en met !!! Ontbijtbuffet : gebakken eitjes koud ,spek véél te zout ,kaas bezweet ! koffie was wel lekker ! Restaurant prijzig ! Kamer :mooie ruime kamer alleen stonden de handen van één van de vorige logees op bedrand (niet gepoetst ? ) Zwembad Met badkleding ALLEEN van 10 tot 11u30 toegankelijk ! .Wifi alleen beschikbaar in de bar of restaurant !! Het zag er zo mooi uit op de site maar ter plaatse dikke tegenvaller !! We hebben al een recensie gedaan maar werd niet op de site geplaatst .Is het zo dat de recensies zo goed zijn ,door de slechte niet te plaatsen ???

Be aware that you may not the type of rooms confirmed at bookings when you get there.
We had reserved and confirmed a room with a "large single mattress bed". When we arrived we find out that in fact "all the rooms from the hotel, according to the staff, only have single beds (or two single beds next to each other)".

Fijn hotel met grote en schone kamers! Wel warm binnen, dus lekker met het raam open geslapen. Gelukkig weinig last van de weg die vlakbij ligt. Ligging vlakbij het strand, heerlijk! We vonden de gerechten op de kaart van het hotel-restaurant aan de prijzige kant, dus zijn er vlakbij in een strand tent gaan eten. Ook de wellness is aan de prijs,15 euro per persoon!

Very good restaurant with an excellent cook. The fish menus are delicious and the desserts are original and they taste wonderful.
