Getting there with Volcano Day was an adventure in and of itself. You get in a truck, drive an hour to the summit, hike for half an hour and there you'll get a martian vista with incredible views of plains and peaks along with billowing sulfer gases. There were also some horses and the occasional stray dog. Fantastic way to see a sunset.

Wow. What a view, what a crater, what a hike. What more can you ask for?

Nice view for sunset and sunrise and you can even see lava when it's dark.
The camping place is really nice. Just make sure you don't leave anything outside of your tent or the horses will chew on it (happened to a t-shirt from us :D)

Sunset tour with maribios tours from leon was excellent. If we had known we would have payed a little more and camped at the top for the night. Spectacular views, the crator was very active with lava clearly visible after sunset and the stars were so clear up there you could easily see the milky way across the sky. Hiking down in the dark was fun too with views over leon.

Now this is a volcano! Great views during the hike and when you are on top. I would recommend an overnight hike.
