Great night tour! Drove right to the edge of the crater and got amazing pictures of the lava. Have to arrive at 5pm and wait for about an hour for night tour. There's a small museum with clean restrooms and small snack store.

They group you as you drive in. I recommend you get there just before 530pm because there is a line. Once you reach the museum, they tell you what time you're going up & you wait to be called. You get 15min to stay at the volcano and take pics. Around 6 to 615 is when the sun starts to set, so get there at the right time because its gorgeous!

We went during the day. Lots of smoke so we never saw the lava but was still a awesome experience. We took a taxi from Masaya (the town) for 600 cords, there were 5 of us so we thought it was a fair price. Plus the driver said he would wait for us while we looked around. The views on the way plus once your at the top are absolutely worth it! Something my kids (10 and 12) enjoyed.

This is a can't miss stop. They have a small Museum filled with really interesting things. Lots of pictures of time gone by. but most interesting of course, is the volcano. And you can literally go look right down into the mouth of hell. At night time, you can clearly see the lava right below you. This is a spectacular destination.

Very cool volcano to visit! We could not stay long as it was active but it was worth the time we got to go. The park fees are minimal and the ride is short up the mountain but the views are amazing once at the top. The opening is so massive it makes you take in the scale and realize the power that lies beneath.

One of the many wonders Nicaragua has to offer.. the drive up the volcano is freshly pave and smooth. Daytime you can admire the layers of soil that have the many rings of that show the environment thru the decades and at night you see the lava glow. Recommend day tour you appreciate it more

We visited here over the Christmas break. We were so impressed with Nicaragua. The children cannot stop talking about the active volcano. Our tour guide told us of the amazing history of the volcano. They were doing renovations to the walkway and to some of the signs the parking lot was well maintained. Definitely worth the cost and the drive up to the volcano.

We saw lava but the wait to get in is not worth the rush they put you through once there. 2 viewing posts are crowded and timed.

Cool volcano, but you can't actually see the lava and they don't let you walk around the entire volcano. A lot of construction going on.

We were not very lucky in our visit because the volcano hasn't been very active lately and the lava level was too low so we could barely see it. We did the night visit and the good thing is that you could still see the red glow coming out of the volcano. I heard usually the lava level is higher so try it.

As there are lots of satisfying reviews. It's absolutely worth visiting. I recommend to go by pickup track or those kinds which you can expose your body to the air and feel it. On the way up to the top of the volcano is as awesome as seeing lava itself. You can see massive red smoke going to to the sky. It's an incredible experience like you are in the adventure or fantasy movie. Too bad that it was too dark for the camera.

One of the high lights from my trip to Central America for sure. I went at night in hopes of seeing the lava and I was not disappointed. I would defiantly recommend for people to go at night. They only let you stay up there for 20 mins because of the health risks of breathing in the sultry but it’s more than enough time to see everything.

Amazing volcano that you can look right into and see lava bubbling! On the road into the volcano you can stop and see old magma flows from the last eruption. Must see if you're in the area!

Its amazing to be so close to the volcano and actually see lava. It was a bit hidden in the crater, but still observable. I went during the day, but would recommend coming ay night. As it is better visualized then. The light is so strong that it can be visualized from miles away. A must see when in Nicaragua.

A spectacular park and one of the only places in the world where you can look inside an active volcano. We even saw lava bubbling away inside when we visited. A must do.

Very cool to see an active volcano up close. If the magma lake is high enough or the wind blows in just the right way you can see it clearly. The last night tour is at 19:00 local time so get there earlier as there's typically a line of cars to get in. Def worth the visit.

Is a volcano how bad could it be. You're only allowed to be there for 15 minutes. But the little museum is cute with great views and you can stay there for longer. I heard it's good to go at night time. We went during the day

See it at NIGHT!
Our group made this detour because we were going by just as they were about to open back up for the evening when this active volcano is most impressive. You wait quite some time in line on the drive up for your 5 minutes at the caldara.
I got some decent pictures and video of the lava flowing inside the caldera. Definitely a great memory.response / report this review -

We went at sunset. You get just 15 minutes to look over the edge of the volcano to the molten flowing lava 150m below. Lots of smoke and strong sulfur smell. A must see!

You drive up to a volcano and look inside. The only way to truly appreciate something like that is to go there and do it yourself. If you're within a hundred miles of Masaya, you need make it one of your stops.
