Sea food was good but other items were pretty bland and they took for ever to get us our food. Others had taken a long time too.. the table next to us clapped when their food arrived because it had been so long. We were on our way to a guided tour and wanted a quick lunch. Definitely not the place. My friend got a salad sandwich combo that consisted of iceberg lettuce with 2 slices of bread and cheap ham on top. They forgot to bring any kind of dressing and in the end.. we are pretty sure he and his daughter got parasites from that lettuce. I would not return to this restaurant.

I love Barca de Oro because you are drawn in as family with a super comfortable shared living room, with delicious and abundant food. Very healthy options for eating as well as milk shakes and fries. Fresh fish. And the ocean as a hig front yard for playing in.

Super delicious and very affordable. Very cute atmosphere with a parrot and fantail pigeons in sight. Try the meat and noodle spaghetti, lotta bang for your buck. Bottled water is only 20 local dollars!! (Like 60cents in US Dollars as of May 2017)

Good food, try the whole grilled fish plate. Good courtyard atmosphere overlooking the bay. Didn't stay at hotel, just ate here twice.

Positives: Rooms are beautiful (we stayed in a bungalow), hostel bar is a nice place to relax.

Negatives: Rooms aren't the most practical - no electricity, toilet = hole in ground. Mosquitoes aplenty. Most of the time, the estuary the hostel sits next to is empty, meaning rather than a beautiful view over the waves, you can only see a mile or so of sand.

Very laid back atmosphere frequented by backpackers and families alike. Has one of the more sizeable restaurants in town and offers tours to the nearby reserve via kayaks. Low prices. Located in the far end of beach so you will have to be walking a bit to get to where the action is.
