Uniben is a blessing to Edo State! I call them the grandmasters of Academic knowledge, it's a nice school for learning, but sucks when it comes to infrastructure. besides, Admission is not transparent.

Attended this uni from 1995 -2000. Great place to be but infrastructure was lacking, computers were locked behind closed doors, none for public use in the library even. I hope things have changed now because studying was more difficult at that time as you simply couldn't google anything! Internet was a new thing at the time & it was closely guarded.
On the social side, cultism was a big problem with many young students losing their lives when rivals clashed.
In the late 90s ,Williams Obong, my class mate at 400 level petroleum engineering was killed shortly after assuming the position of Sec. Gen of the SU by cultists who strongly opposed his candidacy.
The teachers also come under scrutiny for deliberately making the lectures very difficult for the student to understand. It should be the other way.
As a result of this, students struggled to achieve success. You knew you had to fight to get a degree, graduate & run!response / report this review -

One of Nigeria's leading universities for courses in the humanities, sciences, medicine and engineering.
The university ranks among the top 5 in the Nigerian school system and offers a relatively wide array of courses. Academic standard is also relatively high.

The Sch does nt admit based on merit gaining admission into the sch. is hell. even if u pass their post ume exams with a high jamb score u still would gain the admission except u bribe sum of their staffs or do some runs rather.

Uniben is one of the most excellent universities to study in Nigeria! They provide basic infrastructural needs & make policies that make education quite easy for us! Though schooling here ain't easy but its worthwhile & I love it!

Abegi those who are rating this school 5 start have probably lived their whole life in benin because compared to world standard it is a sorry excuse for a university, obviously you did not come to the university to be their lecturer or work in benin this school sucks in infrastructure, infrastructure which has been their since it the inception of the school and they have refused to renovate anything maybe I am being too biased or ignorant but for someone who has been their and will be there for another 2yrs this school is not ideal at all then to top it off with their annual strike which which will make the lecturers rush u this school is apailing and I would not want anyone to get their hope high with uni Ben it's a stress filled school.
