The University of Ibadan Zoological Garden was established in 1948 primarily as Menagerie to support teaching and research in the Department of Zoology. With time the animal collection grew in number and diversity and the Menagerie gradually became a full fledged Zoo in 1974. It welcomes a large number of visitors from far and near every year.
The University of Ibadan Zoo, like most modern zoos, displays wild animals primarily for the conservation of endangered species, as well as for research purposes and education, and so also for the entertainment of visitors.
The garden is home to a wide array of animals comprising mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians,Green monkeys.
The Zoo is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year from 8:00 to 18:30 daily.
For the hungry, The shops at the zoo premises have a wide variety of delicious take-aways and kiosks offer snacks. There are numerous picnic spots located within the Zoo where you can relax in the shade of giant trees.
secure parking space is available at the main entrance of the U.I Zoological Gardens. Security staff is on duty at all parking facilities for your peace of mind.
Security personnel are on duty 24 hours a day for your convenience.
Come prepared for a day filled with fun and their are also experienced students who are willing to take tourists through the animals and special points of the zoo for a small fee only.

A very beautiful sight
So many animals have gone into extinction.
Luckily for our children, they will get to see some.

Kudos to the management of University of Ibadan Zoo.

The animals are kept in okay conditions but I am not an animal person nor do I care for confined living for them so I don't enjoy zoos.
Food I enjoy but there are no concession stands and their shops are super boring! The staff might be enthusiastic when the weather is right too.

I personally assess this zoo, to be one of the best laid out and best maintained zoo I've visited in Nigeria. There are a wide variety of (well kept, well cared for) animals. The garden has been recently renovated and looks better than the last time I was there.

Located in the heart of University of Ibadan. It's a perfect get away and the environment is cool and natural. The recent modifications of the structural design makes it more modern but there is a takeaway though, it has lost some Natural feel in the environment.

Nice zoological experience in the ancient city of Ibadan. The Lions are certainly the stars off the show but the giraffe and ostriches also add their share. In all, good place to go either alone or with family and friends.

We had a good experience here. It looked better than I remember it years ago, but they had more animals then. Now they have snakes, some not so robust lions, giraffe, monkeys, ostrich and some other birds. Some hyenas and foxes too. can't remember the rest

The Zoological garden is best place to be if you are a lover of animals and nature generally. There are variety of animals in there which include: crocodiles, lions, hyena, camels, horses, reptiles of all sorts, different birds to mention a few. There is however no tiger, elephant, bear. The entrance fee is #500. The place is a cool place to have picnics or excursions.

There are even more animals on displayI heartily recommend it as a destination if you're interested in a day out with the kids. They've also got some concession stands running and some postcards, paintings, etc. for sale.

Probably the biggest zoo in Nigeria. There is a wide variety of animals amd their homes are very neat and decent. The animals are also well fed and kept. Lovely environment and ambiance. Perfect for a day out with family, friends and small groups. Gate fee is N500. Highly recommend.

The zoo is really cool but it just feels like something is missing there. I really don't know what it is but something is missing.
You'll want to see the Snakes area and the Lion's den.

The reason am rating is just that, the zoo is lively, fun center And has many wild animals such as lions and lioness, hyenas, crocodile, the reptiles family, the birds family such vulture, owl and lot more. Monkeys and baboon, ostrich,camel. I can't just be saying all my experience there will advice you to pay a visit to the Premier University zoological garden
