Check in is easy, friendly airport staff. Very stuffy place with No air-conditioning and no fans.

Pls don't call that number. He claims to be a customer care of this airport but he is not. He gave me a planned account no of a lady who claimed to secure a flight for me coz it was urgent. I sent her the money and she claimed she s not gotten it till now. Both are now denying they dont know what I am saying. Pls don't call those numbers!
How could a big firm like this airport allow such scammers here as their customer care?response / report this review -

Sam Mbakwe international cargo airport is a Local airport in IMO state. The airport proximity to IMO and Abia makes it a perfect airport for Abian to operate from on arrival and take of. The airport is in dire need of infrastructural improvement and renovation that is why it has not been make an international airport in which is name applies.

Local airport so don't expect much. As long as your flight is on schedule and you get your luggage quickly enough be thankful. The airport is small and serves imo and abia state passengers. The luggage pirouette is dated though works efficiency. There are porters to carry your luggage in their carts for a price. Lightening not too good. Speakers used for announcements not too clear. Otherwise it is ok

Had reason to use the convenience - neat toilets and friendly attendants but you had to wait request for toilet rolls! Like seriously?

The airport needs serious upgrade considering the fact that owerri is a busy town and the airport serves both imo and abia state.

Run down but it still works. Waiting area relatively comfortable. Cold cheaps beers opposite to terminal building.

Honestly, I was expecting a lot worse but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's not a world class airport but for the basic services it provides, it wasn't bad. Maybe it was just a lucky day but I had a decent experience the day I flew out of it.
