Like others, it's was built because Nigeria had the oil money to do so & host the event held there. As always, after the initial event, there are no plans for maintenance and effective utilization to boost productivity and the physical wellbeing of the citizens of Nigeria.
It is deteriorating monument, wasting away like others before it. You can visit, look around, take pictures, and go home. No sports development program running effectively there, sadly.
It's a multi-sports facility edifice that hosted the All-Africa Games in 2003. It can't even host a competitive football match this days.
However, when you do visit Abuja, this remains one place to see for the records.response / report this review -

It's very clean and it has good roads and there is a main bowl to where the different events hold suxh as track and field, basket ball, tennis, badminton etc.

The tennis arena is good, volleyball, handball, soccer cricket are all played there. Plus if you are consist with exercising, you'll meet people willing to help you on your fitness journey.

This is a large and beautiful stadium. Its one of the best stadium where most Nigeria international football matches are played. Its well organized and its also used for other events such as political campaigns, conventions and rallies as well as religious functions.

A Beautiful football pitch. Needs proper and consistent maintenance in order for it to be world class. At an average its okay, but there is great need for serious improvement and maintenance of it's facilities.

Beautiful environment with lots of space for jogging and walking. The air is very fresh especially in morning. Abuja weather is generally very pleasant all year round.

A lovely 60,000 capacity stadium with just low profile activities on-going but a good place to exercise. More professional events needs to be held here to stem the deterioration.

The official national Stadium complex of Nigeria. There's an attached velodrome for gymnastics and a Olympic sized pool as well. Great design, great place. Open to the public
