It could be agreed that Ile-Ife as the cradle of the Yoruba race is a home for all blacks, going by the rich cultural and Traditional heritage that are embedded in the ancient city, The palace is well situated and planned for royal and traditional activities. The structure of the palace is made of the Emese's court, Traditional court(headed by the Obalufe) and Supreme Traditional Council(headed by H.I.M). Also in the palace are administrative complex, security building and tourist attractions like the Yeyemoolu shrine, Origi Olofin and The Ogun Laadin(first blacksmith). I can't but acknowledge the beauty of the environment ranging from the architectural reflection to the serene condition, appearing within the range of the favourite colour combination of H.I.M. which are white, purple and gold. Ife people are loving and hospitable. - Eludire Oluwadamilare.

Ile-Nla ( The Palace Hall) was built in the year 1922 by Engineer Taffy. It was built to serve as a conference hall for interactions between the Ooni and the expatriate Resident officer.

If you have the opportunity to, take a guided tour of the Palace. You'll likely not meet the Ooni, but you'll be regaled with tales about his life and the duties of his position. Our guide only spoke Yoruba so you might need an interpreter if you don't speak the language.
You'll learn about the history of Ife and the Yorubaland, about Oduduwa, Moremi and the past and present Oonis.response / report this review
