Cool about to commence operations in full gear
One of the foremost breweries in the country. Established in the 50s by Germans. The products included Bergedorf, Golden Guinea, Eagle stout etc. It's staff strength were over 500. The brewery has been out-of-service since 2002 due to an explosion in the boiler area.
It is non functional and has shutdown
Once a pride of Abia, now a shadow of itself
Dead, moribund and a shell of itself. High time it is revamped to assure employment for indigens.
Nice place to be
Undergoing renovation and rebranding. It has state of the art Brewer, pumbs, silos, etc .
This is an indigenous brewery that is jointly owned by the state government and other shareholders. The brewery though on break now due to a boiler explosion or industrial accident that claimed many lives, was a major source of revenue and one of the major employers of labour in Umuahia after state government. The company is beautifully structured and formidable with many brand of products until the unfortunate incident of 2001. I hope the ongoing recovery efforts works. I worked here until the unfortunate incident.
