It holds ancient history and is quite interesting with artefacts about the yoruba tribe in Nigeria

I had to visit this museum, the 1st one to be set up in Nigeria actually due to the discovery of all the soap stone images under that tree. I first sighted one of the soap stone images at the National Museum Lagos thus igniting my quest to see the rest of them. We had challenges getting there on time due to bad roads and then we were not allowed to drive into the big compound insisting we park outside.

Over 1000 Soapstone carvings of mysterious origin, found in 18th century Esie, Kwara state.

This is evidence of the amazing history, civilization and folklore of ancient Nigeria. Everyone has to experience it.

Infrastructure and access road to the museum are in dire need of repair though.

Was an interesting visit. Staff were knowledgeable and courteous. However the place needs renovation and good maintenance. But found it an educating visit. No photos were allowed in the place
