  Just a manageable hospital. If you need serious specialist attention, this is not the hospital for you. When my wife put to bed here late at night in September 2017, it was phone torchlight that the doctor and nurse attended to her with. Being first pregnancy she got a tear and stitches. All these were done with the doctor using phone torch. You can imagine. There was no light, and they didn't put on their standby generator. Also, if you must use this hospital, make sure you are literate enough to check the medication you are given. There are a lot of doctors here who are not sure of what they are doing. On one occasion I took my daughter for checkup because of small boils she had. The so-called doctor, in our presence, browsed the Internet and prescribed for us a drug that we couldn't find in eight pharmacies in Awka town. Those pharmacies have not even heard of the drug before. We went back to the hospital and met another doctor who prescribed Loratadine and Prednisolone. I did a check and saw that Loratadine should not be given to children less than 2yrs. My daughter was 6months at that time. I refused giving her the drug. Meanwhile Prednisolone is an immune suppressant. But we still gave it to her because it should reduce the itching she was having. In few days a boil under her jaw became so big and painful(it probably grew because of immune system suppression by that drug). We returned to the hospital and were fortunate to be attended to by the Chief Pediatrician. As he read my daughter's folder, he kept shaking his head. Eventually he said the medications we were given in the past were not meant for the health issues my daughter had! He then prescribed antibiotics, and with just a day of use, that big evil boil opened and released frightening quantity of pus! Meanwhile my daughter had gone through almost two weeks of anguish because of those previous fit-to-be-decertified doctors! I only continue going to the hospital because that's where my health insurance is domiciled, and I always wear my thinking cap.

  Popular for it's age, and perhaps it's affordability, the hospital is a teaching hospital and practice hospital for upcoming doctors, though there are very well experienced Doctors here, one thing it doesn't boast of though is it's advanced medical technology

  Very bad hospital for treatment and emergencies. This government should improve it. It's 50/50.. Going there is either dead or alive because their nurses are very careless and lack hospitality to patience. The only good thing Is that it is very cheap and because of it, it is crowded. You need to come e as early as 5am so that you can book space for treatment and be the first person the doctors will attend to. Because it is a university hospital, most of the students are very careless with drugs and injections. I hope they will start withdrawing licensing from practitioners when they commit

  The teaching hospital of anambra state university, this is not a good place for emergency, as the nurses there at too reluctant to medical services.
