The facilities are not being maintained to the standard one would expect. If you are not to fussy and looking for affordable accommodation in Swakop the camp is OK. A portion of the camp is adjacent to a disco. Ensure you book away from this section.

The second star is for the ground staff. They are doing their best to be supportive, friendly and keep everything clean as far as it is possible for them. My opinion is that they are limited at management level. Budget limitations?? These bungalows are so clean but paint is pealing, curtains old and damaged, tiles old and broken and only one very old duvet available. It costed me to buy blankets friday night, at a very expensive price. But have to take what I can get 20:00 in the evening. The tavern next to the bungalows, played their music loud till 2:00 Sunday morning. Swkp mun. Just address the above as your staff is prepared to walk the extra mile for tourists.

Atrocious customer service. Our bungalow got broken into at midnight one evening and our house of all females had to spend the next hour attempting to get in contact with security, a manager or the Swakopmund police. There were two security guards on duty that evening - one was watching a movie and couldn't be bothered to assist us in our frightened state, while we found the other one sleeping in the grass outside of our bungalow. After many attempts to contact the manager of the Swakopmund Municipal Bungalows to inquire about our terrifying experience, and many promises of his contacting us, we have received no further information from him. We have since recommended many of our friends and family, who visit us here in Namibia often, to stay away from booking lodging at this irresponsible establishment that does not take the time to ensure its guest's safety and satisfaction. If you are looking for a safe, comfortable place to stay, look elsewhere. Skeleton Beach Backpackers or Desert Sky Backpackers are much more aesthetically pleasing and we have had excellent experiences there, with fantastic customer service. I have never had a worse experience with accommodation in Namibia during my year of living here than at the Swakopmund Municipal Bungalows. Save yourself time, break-ins and poor communication by taking your business elsewhere.
