Great fun. Very well supported by tourists, crowded, atmospheric and fairly good food. There are so many rooms, alcoves and other zones for dining in, some indoors and some out. This made it difficult to attract waiting staff sometimes.
This place is a must visit. The atmosphere is great and the food good. The Staff are friendly and efficient. It is furnished with some interesting stuff.
Great for the carnivore:
- I have been here now a couple of times over the last 20 odd years and never get disappointed; even though the design and feel of this place has not changed.
- This is a Boma style of eatery; partially covered but not that exposed to the elements that ding would be impossible whilst rain or inclement weather. Although I expect it could get a bit cold in winter.
- Great food with exotic offerings such as Zebra, Oryx and Crocodile.
- A lot of tourist visit here and not all were too impressed by the cleanliness but in my opinion this is all part of the experience.
Joe's is a one of a kind experience. I have been there numerous times and every time I stand in awe with the amount off customers there. One of the best restaurants in Windhoek. If you haven't been to Joe's you haven't been to Windhoek!
My first time here and definitely not my last. Awesome place to eat something with friends and have a few beers. Great vibe.
Interesting restaurant with unique decor and atmosphere. Plenty of choices from the menu with reasonable price. Pork Knuckle is very delicious. Give the game meat a try. Good beer as well. We received good service on our dinner.
Very interesting restaurant with a selection of game meats. You will be surprised by the decor, as this is a truly unique dining experience. The food is well priced and the portion sizes are ample. Lunch menu is served from 12 till 4p.m.. but you can request the chef to prepare you something from the dinner menu on request, and the kitchen Will usually try and accommodate you.
Fairly good food. Has a reputation as one of the "legendary" places in Windhoek. Some good beers. The menu is a bit boring in my opinion. Just lots of meat in many forms but a bit disappointment.
Didn't like the lunch very much. It was too heavy, didn't look very appealing and was lacking in any form of fresh food. I'd rather go somewhere else.
It has a wide variety of meat chooses such as game including giraffe, zebra, crocodile and many more game meat. The atmosphere is very nice with a fish pod. Friendly stuff and diverse people that are friendly from different backgrounds. They have outside braai (grill) place also a fireplace to sit around.
Unique decorations and atmosphere. Big menu with a lot of options also special foods such as crocodile. Other than that a huge range of game meals as well as pork, beef, chicken and other standard restaurant dishes. Good food overall. I need to mention though that I received terrible service upon my previous 3 visits. I hope this will be improved as I would currently favour other options for eating out.
Great food great place
Great place for tourists. Excellent game, but seriously don't sell a dish with Gouda cheese when you are going to add Cheddar!
Joes Beerhouse is one of the most talked about places in Windhoek and in South Africa, everyone says "you have to go to Joes BeerHouse" and everyone is right, the Beerhouse is not just for beer, it has some of the best food I have ever tasted ams has a huge selection of food that includes but not limited to Chicken, Fish. Beef and Game.
Joes Beerhouse is massive but I recommend you make a reservation first.
The staff provides good friendly service but food does take sometime.
Great food and good service! If all else fails, then go to Joe's. Joe's won't disappoint 90% of the time. If you're in Windhoek for the first time this should be the first place to visit.
