The luxury train was locally designed and built in Namibia. On 3 April 1998, the extravagant train was launched by then the President of Namibia, Dr. Sam Nujoma. It consists of nine coaches and twenty-four en-suit facilities compartments – each accommodating one or two or three passengers.

Desert Express is Namibia’s unique rail experience that offers overnight weekend get-way tour from Windhoek to the coastal town of Swakopmund.
Upon boarding you are welcomed by our staff that utters only the best of hospitality, friendliness and everlasting love for Namibia and Africa as a whole. They share a wide range of knowledge of Namibia’s historical and wildlife secret as well as abundant survival skills.
