At the tip of the Machangulo Peninsula, close to the Maputo Special Reserve and on the shores of the Ponta do Ouro Partial Marine Reserve is this private reserve, with stunning views, both land and sea. The journey is rough but enjoyable. If coming from Maputo or Ponta do Ouro by car, you must enter the Maputo Special reserve in either of the entrances (Gala in the South and Futi further North, near Salamanga) and cross it, where you will meet with all kinds of wildlife, from elephants to giraffes, hippos, crocodiles and several other species of mammals and birds. After the exit gate, just follow the route and ask people for directions, or ask your GPS to guide you there (Google Maps has most of the roads mapped). Enjoy the great sceneries and beaches.

I spent most of my time in the beaches at the reserve & they were stunning. Especially in the bay between the island & Santa Maria.

The reserve fortunately doesn't have too much traffic & isn't highly developed so you can forget about the rest of the world at times. That does mean that there aren't many mapped out hiking trails etc
