The food is delicious! But beware the big black forest ants on the toilet bowl at night. And also bring a torchlight or charge your phone with the torchlight because going to and from the dining area to your chalet is dangerous and pitch dark and scary.

Michelle and Ruben have created a welcoming and relaxing environment with great access to the river and hikes to nearby waterfalls. The food is amazing and it's perfect for couples, families, groups and events!

It was a delightful experience! A perfect place to get away from city living. Transport from the main road is via a truck which has to cross a stream or across a suspended bridge for pedestrians. We had 2 elderly people with our family and they managed well. Accommodation ranged from a proper house to a tent with no bathroom attached. All were clean and well kept. Michelle and Rubin were excellent hosts!

Absolutely beautiful place. A great place to getaway. Be warned :) lots of mosquitoes at night, highly encourage you light a mosquito coil before sleeping. Or if you are hanging out in the open.

No comment but very disappointed because it was completely fully booked and we drove back to KL. Must book in advance before one come here.

    Welcome to paradise

Ruben and his team have created a peaceful remote place, just about a 1,5 hours drive outside busy KL.
The Sticks is ideal for digital detox as there's only a very weak mobile internet signal and no wifi, but mind you, there's plenty of other activities to pursue. You can take a swim or float in tubes on the river, wander through the jungle forest, cuddle one of the 3 dogs or 2 cats (or even all of them), try to count the uncountable butterflies or take a nap in the hammock. We used to call it "the magical hammock" because it makes you fall asleep almost instantly as the atmosphere is so serene and calm.

The bamboo houses come in various sizes and shapes and are surprisingly comfortable considering you're in the middle of a jungle with comfy beds, fans and a hot water shower. The nights out there are an experience in themselves: it's so dark you will not be able to see your own hand touch your nose, and the animals of the forest will sing a lullaby for you.

You certainly will never be hungry, as Ruben and his team take very good care of their guests with four delicious meals a day - breakfast, lunch and dinner and a afternoon tea with a sweet snack.

We spent 4 days at The Sticks to literally unplug and recharge. Eventually you might even experience that rare feeling of the past: boredom, or sweet nothing, which we all to often fill with YouTube videos and the like. You will relearn to let your mind wander and to just enjoy that very moment.

A warm and wholehearted Thank You to Ruben, the team of gardeners, cooks, builders and cleaners who make this place so special and take such good care of us. We look forward to seeing you soon some day.

Perfect for escaping the KL rat race. I stayed here with my partner in February and it was a great romantic getaway. Falling asleep to the sound of rushing water in the river side Tendok was sublime. The food here was fantastic and cooked with love. The hosts, Reuben and his wife Michelle were very friendly and accommodating. We appreciated being fussed over and shown how to cook in our first steam boat experience 😁. We really enjoyed the Tin mine trekking too, very interesting and great views!👍👍👍👍

We only stayed one night but it was so relaxing that a few more would've been ideal. It's a very nice drive to The Sticks and it's not far at all from KL. On arrival we were impressed by the stunning scenery and walk over the river. The owners were lovely and the staff made us feel very welcome. Definitely take up the offer of meals as they were delicious, especially the barbecue at night. We stayed in the Bamboo Chalet which was comfortable. Remember that you are in the middle of a jumble so there will be insects but this didn't bother us too much. The walking trail was fun and a little testing but we wished we had organised a half day guided walk. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and are now thinking of returning but with a larger group of friends.

Loved this place and the beautiful people that run it! Would go back in a heartbeat. The jungle huts were comfortable and very immersive and the food was amazing (and just kept coming!) Beware, the jungle walks can get quite adventurous!
