Description

Music has the power to bring enemies together. We also believe that music can sooth the savage beast, make you happy, inspire you, start revolutions, make people "Come Together", make you cry, make your heart skip a beat, make you feel breathless, make you want to dance, make you lose control, make you want to celebrate, make you fall in love. In times of despair, loneliness & sadness, music can save you.

There are worlds of music that exists other than music from pop music radio stations. Other types of music needn't be boring. It can be passionate, interesting & great to listen to.

There is a lack of classical music in Malaysia. There is no free-to-air radio stations exclusively airing classical music. There is a lack of philharmonic halls in Malaysia. However, we know that there is excellent local talent here in Malaysia. They just lack avenues or platforms to play or sing at. In addition, classical music is beautiful, inspiring & easy to listen to. It is just that contemporary programming favours other genres of music. This is one of the reasons why we are organizing the Asia-Pacific Classical Music Festival.

Our vision for the Asia-Pacific Classical Music Festival is to make it a world-class classical music event in Asia-Pacific, appealing to audiences & tourists from South-East Asia as well as from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Korea & Japan all the way to Australia & New Zealand. It will be an annual music festival which will showcase Malaysian as well as Asia-Pacific talents in classical music. Additionally, it will invigorate Malaysia's classical music scene. The audience will come to enjoy & be inspired by the performances. It will be a leading, annual event in Malaysia.

We are starting a movement to spread classical music in Malaysia, as well as in the Asia-Pacific. We are going to showcase a lineup of young, classical musicians - we are going to show that classical music is every bit as exciting, cool & inspiring as pop & rock music.

We want to add masterclasses, workshops as well as a competition in the subsequent Festivals, expanding its breadth & depth to appeal to a larger and more inquiring audience.

Within 5 years, we will make "The Asia-Pacific Music Festival" a global brand name.

Classical music lovers will be able to see a handful of their favorite acts perform without having to attend individual shows.

The objectives of holding the Asia-Pacific Classical Music Festival are as follows:

It will enhance early childhood classical music education in Malaysia;

It will expose Malaysians, including children, to classical music as an art form and possible career choice;

Malaysia will be seen as a hub for music & performing arts events;

It will showcase some of Malaysia's best & brightest musical talents, vis-a-vis other musicians from Asia-Pacific;

It will bring tourist revenue to Malaysia because the performers, their family members, friends as well as audience & spectators will come from abroad to enjoy the Music Festival; and

It will promote cultural tourism which will benefit the Government, sponsors as well as the associated industries in the arts, entertainment & hospitality sectors.

The Patron of the Festival is Y.A.Bhg. Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, the wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
