**Tourist Visa is NOT as easy as it used to be**

I got this week my tourist visa in Penang and they are asking for: Flight tickets AND Bank statement.

It used to be way simpler. Just copy of passport, 2 pictures, form filled, 150 MUR and your passport.

They DO NOT accept thai baht.

Do not forget to bring a copy of your passport - the guy outside is not cheap. and the staff at the consulate will put you back at the end of the queue.. Bring all mentioned things above and you will be fine.

    Be polite and dress properly.

They are crazy only process 200 visa per day and closes at 11am it's obvious they don't want tourists don't waste your time with this.

Very smooth, quick and easy. 150 RM for Single entry Tourist visa. Wear long sleeve clothing or they might have a problem serving you. Also check the required documents online, you need flight tickets, copy of your passport, etc.

Very professional towards the services the Royal Thai Consulate provides. If you’ve had the misfortune to visit the Royal Thai Consulate in Kaula Lumpur, you’ll appreciate this location much more.

    Nice staff.

The only problem is asking for application forms is awkward for everyone because it makes it look like you are cutting in line and some people think you're cutting too.

    Bring a pen.

This was the smoothest, quickest, and easiest (tourist) visa experience I've had so far. I was in and out in about 10 minutes when I applied and also when I came to pick up the visa the next day. I have a friend who went there for a work visa, and her experience was the same.

There was also a super-friendly employee who would help with any questions you had while filling out the form. He was cracking jokes with everyone and really kept the mood light.

My experience was poor, I went to the embassy to gain a Tourist visa for Thailand. I was told on the spot that i need to provide a booked flight ticket out of Thailand within the next two months of my Tourist Visa expiring. I find this hard to get my head around, firstly, why would i assume that my visa will be approved and have already booked a flight from Thailand when i don't know that the tourist visa i am applying for would be approved. What if they say no to my tourist visa and im stuck with the payment of an unused flight. Also, we all know travelling S.E Asia via bus is a cheap alternative for many locals and travellers yet the Embassy would not accept a bus ticket out of Thailand within the 2 month expiration of my "hopefully" accepted visa. Pull you heads in! You need to include more of these rules on your website so people arrive at the embassy fully prepared. What if i couldn't afford to buy a flight ticket? No visa? Stuck in Penang? I don't disagree with your rules but i do think they need to be clearer for foreigners. I also think a bus ticket should be acceptable as this is a far easier and affordable option for many people.

Straight forward no dramas. The guy inside could improve his vibe, at least pretend to care when delivering bad news. The girls are very friendly and helpful. The guard also manages a good mix of maintaining order while being friendly and helpful. Nice area.

Good and fast service. VISA APPLICATION HOURS CHANGED, ONLY UNTIL 11:30, NOT 12:00 AS SHOWN IN OLD PHOTOS! Do get your prints, photos and photocopies BEFOREHAND, the van outside will charge you higher for anything you forgot. On the way to/from the consulate, you can stop by to one of the many eateries on Jalan Burma. Catch bus 101 to/from Chulia street to get here and back. Agencies in Chulia street will charge you RM 30 for taking the application to the embassy and picking it up, bus costs RM 1.40 per direction.

The consulate might ask for flight tickets out of Thailand. For longer visas they might also want a bank statement proving adequate funds. You may have some difficulty getting the visa if you already have a few Thai visas in a row in your passport. Also being from some countries might get you extra questioning, especially Africa and some Asian countries.

Almost everyone can get 15 days stay visa free from the Thai land border and 30 days from the airports and you can double this by doing a border run, so for shorter says you can just save the RM 150 visa fee for something else.

The ladies are courteous but the man sitting inside is just rude . The guards the old man outside is helpful but the young man inside I don't even know how he got hired. He would ignore my question and just leave me standing pure ignorance what is the interview standards of Thai embassy . I rather get a visa on arrival
