  The office is close for past 2 months. No notice i front the office or update in google....phone nobody answer calling for 2 days... Traveling with small kid to do passport such a bad experiences....Have to travel all the way to sungai petani and by 10am the counter for giving number already close. Wasting time and money. What service are they providing....???

  We came with my Mom who is OKU and 85 years old to renew her passport, on July 18 at about 9:15am. We are lucky to get a very nice lady at counter 10, Wan Norhayati. We want to thank her very much for her excellent service. She is very friendly and helpful.

  I do find this passport counter better than the one in Georgetown. Surprisingly, they operate half days on Saturday and Sunday which is good. Note that they open from 8am and the payment counter shuts at 12pm. Which means going at about 10+am would mean that you need to go back the next day to pay and get your passport.
  
  It's crowded, very cold in air conditioning as with most gov offices in Malaysia. Toilet conditions are as reported which is a shame.

  The best time to go there is around 12.00 noon on Saturday(s) and Sunday(s). Yes, they are open on Saturdays and Sundays from 8.00am to 1.00pm.

  4/5 from personal experience:
  10am Monday 4.3.2019 arrived with plenty of car parks around the Immigration office, try back lanes too. Remember to put up parking tickets.
  10.15am get a Queue number, there were 33 pax in front of me. If you are an early bird unlike me, you may have a faster process.
  12pm my turn at Passport process counter. Since I am doing renewal of passport, I just need to hand over old passport and IC. Staff took photo, preferably wear black, white or dark shirt, else don the black jacket given to you.
  12.20pm wait to pay rm200 cash. You will be given a red receipt to collect new passport in 1 hour.
  1.20pm got my new passport.
  
  I wish all the 8 counters were manned to speed up process, only 2-3 counters open this morning. However the staff were all polite and helpful. Kudos and Thank You.

  Go early morning, less people.. The procedure was very quick and hassle free.. After payment, wait an hour then can collect passport..

  Weirdly today Saturday (2 weeks after Chinese New Year) not many people at 8am. Small toddler (probably below 4 years old) are not given number but will be called by name at express counter. But you still need to queue to pass the toddler MyKid and Birth cert to the registration counter. Remember to photostat mother/father myKad and toddler myKid and birth cert. Remember wear dark cloth for toddler to take picture. You can bring your toddler picture if you think your toddler can't sit quietly to take photo. Passport can be collected after 1 hour or less. I saw some people came at 10am. During 10am no queue at all. This is all very weird.

  Absolutely fantastic service to extend my visa by 2 weeks. Got there at 7.30 am as advised on the expat group. Headed straight upstairs and was finished in less than 1.5 hours - no fee. The one small downside is the truly terrible bathrooms - discarded diapers, tissues and water running all over the place. A poor reflection on an otherwise superb service.

  This place has the distinction of having the worst toilet in any government office ever. Smelly, dirty, toilets with no flush, urinals with no water, broken taps, dim and cramped, slippery floor. The worst you can imagine. Shame on the Penang Immigration Department.
  The design and layout of the building is really amateurish. The main entrance is so far away from the gate. You better hope it's not a rainy day when you visit this place.

  Screw the service! System down!!? Because vendor false?! My brother went last time also system down! Government department can always allow system down!? One uncle waiting there since taken number from 11.05am till now 3.18pm system still down! I went twice!!! Ask me call to check if system up but nobody pick up i called so many times!!! What a important department that allow system down for so many hour! You should consider change vendor!

  If you dont have alot of time to spend. Dont come here. This is a torturing place. No aircon lack of air environment. All the staffs here works slower than turtle. The waiting time is so damn long, simple verification takes forever. Those laziness i can rate 10. With such computer system in front of them. And a phone beside them. They just refuse to call and asks the embassy. Providing them already all necessary documents but yet they tell you its not in their language. Cannot understand. Lol. However the staff attending to you to give you number of queue is very polite and pro. Other than that no~ nth else is good here.

  Came here for renewal of passport. Pretty fast, waited for 15mins for my turn to take photo. The immigration officer Cik Suhaida was very sweet, kind & patient. Then I just need to wait for another an hour to get my new passport. Rm200 for 5years. 👍👏

  It has been a second place i visited the most in terms of documentations and procedures that i've got to deal with since my spouse is a foreigner. Unfortunately, it is the most unbearable place if you have to bear with the department of visa&permit. First of all, the INFORMATION they gave you are normally wrong and you can expect ALOT OF MISCOMMUNICATION with the front counter. In example, you will meet with officer A for today to do the necessary documentation, and please bear in mind that, nobody is ever going to be okay with the documentation in the first meeting. They will normally tells you that your documents are incomplete therefore, you gotta be there again tomorrow. So tomorrow, you'll meet officer B, for the same purpose, only with different front clerk. and again, there'll be another problem which haven't stated either from the checklist they gave you, or from the previous officer A u met before. and again, the queue is too long, if you missed out one simple document which they seems so fussy about since they are so professional with higher intelligent, and you come back around 12 above, might as well you just forget about queueing up again because its gonna take too long there will be possibilities you're not gonna make it and they'll ask you to go back home, and come again tomorrow (my favorite line) ;) The department of passport might be okay, but if you're dealing with level 2, visa&permit department, kindly bring a strip of panadol activefast for your own good as it will definitely going to be a longgggg journey of meeting a bunch of genius different people with different ideas and advice. I'm still trying to survive. For those who wishes to get married with a foreigner, I suggest you to not applying from Penang/lived here, be it in IPoh, or Kedah, which i'm sure they'll be more efficient and reliable officers around to assist you in all proceeding. I just hope for one simple thing, kindly educate your front desk staff and officer in charge, for a better information and efficiency, after all, they are representing the country. It is such a shame to have shown all this hideous, poor flaws when we can actually be better, just because nobody ever takes notice of such matter.

  In the midst of doing our long-term visa, every week we go it's a different form, different requirement. Why is it so difficult to inform us of all requirements at one time? Very frustrating and the worst Malaysian government department we have dealt with.

  Continuing visa here is very complicated. Got many counters but only 1 or 2 open. Where are all the people working here?!. Been here for almost every year and it seems they didn't bother to add staffs here to make the process run fast and smoothly. They just ignore the people who come far and just waste time to see their poor working attitude. They don't bother people come here with children (because no one can take care at home) to come here. Please do something.
