"What should I do if I sprained my ankle?" Apply PRICE!
The PRICE method is a simple self-care technique that helps reduce swelling, ease pain, and speed up healing of the injured tissues. RICE is an acronym that stands for PROTECTION, REST, ICE, COMPRESSION and ELEVATION. The bonus point of it is you can do it by yourself whenever you are, even you are at home.
•Protection: protect the affected area from further injury – for example, by using a crutch.
...•Rest: avoid exercise and reduce your daily physical activity. Using crutches or a walking stick may help if you can't put weight on your ankle or knee. A sling may help if you've injured your shoulder.
•Ice: apply an ice pack to the affected area for 15-20 minutes every two to three hours. A bag of frozen peas, or similar, will work well. Wrap the ice pack in a towel so that it doesn't directly touch your skin and cause an ice burn.
•Compression: use elastic compression bandages during the day to limit swelling.
•Elevation: keep the injured body part raised above the level of your heart whenever possible.
PRICE should be applied continuously for 3-4 days. After that, a physiotherapist will prescribe a tailored exercise for you to reduce the odds of re-injury in the future.

See MorePatient with neck pain, headache, reduced range of motion and consistent pulling sensation on the base of the skull.
After a check up with us, x-ray revealed premature neck degeneration, presence of bone spurs and reduction of disc spaces especially between bone 5 and bone 6 (bottom red arrow). This incorrect neck position increases the load and pressure of her neck & nerves, and it's also made worse with her sitting for more than 8 hours a day working. Also take a look at th...e first bone rubbing at the base of the skull (top red arrow).
Looking at the 'after' x-ray, it shows an increase in disc spaces, especially between bone 5 and 6. Also, the alignment of the first bone is starting to correct, leaving proper space for it to move without rubbing on the skull.
Whilst we cannot stop degeneration or reverse it, we sure can slow down the process of it!
Bone 5, (C5) affects your vocal cords, neck glands and pharynx. Misalignment symptoms includes laryngitis, hoarseness, throat conditions such as sore throat.
Bone 6, (C6) affects your neck muscles, shoulder and tonsils. Misalignment symptoms includes stiff neck, pain in upper arm, tonsillitis, chronic cough and even croup.
A spinal misalignment might not be the direct cause of your problem, but it is a contributing factor to ALL diseases. Regular chiropractic spinal corrections encourage hydration of the discs, restores joint motion and slows down the process of degeneration. But most importantly, it enables proper restoration and functioning of your nervous system, which affects all the function of your body!

How are you celebrating it?
This patient presents with persistent stiff neck, pain, and headaches that won't seem to go away. It has affected her daily life, and we all know how a terrible headache can ruin our day.
Upon imaging, several subluxations (small misalignment) of the neck was identified. Red dots = position of patient's own spine Blue line = straight line drawn from centre of second neck bone, C2 (red dome shape)
...A normal spine should be aligned in a straight line. An incorrect position will lead to a significant increase of pressure and irritation to the nerves, leading to a compromised nervous system. Your spine 'houses' your nerves, which is responsible for all the function of your body!

Morning sickness is a common term used to describe nausea, vomiting, and/or indigestion experienced by mothers-to-be during the first two to four weeks after fertilization.
There are three reasons on why this can happen.... 1. There is an increase of estrogen hormones up to 300 times above normal 2. Large quantities of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) hormones are secreted 3. Formation of placenta which causes toxin release by the cells responsible, which the liver must detoxify
What can patients do about it? Expecting mothers can start changing their diets, taking smaller meals but eaten often. Cutting down on fat, sugar and dairy products can be helpful too. Start the day with half a lemon in hot water, which helps with taking some strain off the liver.
What can chiropractic care do for the body? Subluxations (small misalignment of the spine) if not corrected will cause an increase in nerve pressure, which affects the nervous system. Subluxation might not be the primary cause of morning sickness, but it is definitely a contributing factor to all kinds of diseases. Getting your spine checked and corrected will not only help ease the morning sickness, but it also optimises your health!

Avoid alcoholic beverages as this will contribute to dehydration. ☞Wear loose, cool clothing, and a hat and sunglasses if you go outdoors. ☞Avoid the heat: stay indoors as much as possible. Stay out of the sun and do not go out during... the hottest part of the day, if you're vulnerable to the effects of heat. ☞Have cool baths or showers, and splash yourself with cool water. ☞Promote air ventilation throughout indoors, use shades to block out excessive sunlight as much as possible.
