In the 1980's, the owner of Asimmy, Madam Koh took order to saw curtains in her house. Since 1990s, Madam Koh opened her shop at Taman Merak in Simpang Ampat to conduct her sewing business. Two years later the Asimmy Company expanded its operation by selling different fabrics for curtains, and items related to interior design such as wallcoverings, vertical blinds, ceiling, bedsheet, floor coverings, partitions, vinyl tiles, cushion covers, carpet and the like.In 1993, the company shifted to new shop where the location is strategic, and where the space was much wider, i.e, 6400 square feet at Taman Rebana in Sungai Bakap. Recently, the company opened a branch at 3008, Tingkat Jalan Rozhan, Taman Alma Jaya in Bukit Mertajam in order to cater to new clients, and to expand the business.At the Asimmy shops, the clients can choose from 500 designs in a variety of colours, costing from RM 8.00 to RM 50.00 per meter. Most of the fabrics are imported from Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan, as well as from England, Germany and Italy. The company uses locally made fabrics as well.
Today, thirty years later, after lots of hard efforts being put in, Asimmy become one of the leading commercial curtain design centre in Seberang Perai. Asimmy has been chosen by a number of builders in the area to produce complete interior design schemes and then manafacture curtains, blinds and other soft furnishings producing total interior fit-outs. Asimmy has the expertise and manufacturing capacity to handle most commercial properties including hotels, pubs, and offices.
