Calling all art lovers!
Step into the lobby of Seri Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur with its very ‘Malaysiana’ theme, finely crafted ‘kerawang’ sculpted into its pillars, the warm hospitality synonymous with the brand and among the distinct traditional composition of this Hotel, stand rows of pristine white illuminated panels standing out in contrast to the earthy tones.
In a bold move to make art accessible, Seri Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur has collaborated with Yusof Gajah, one of Malaysia’s most prolific and respected artist, to launch a Free Art Gallery as a platform for local and international artists to showcase their works.
Yusof Mohd Ismail or Yusof Gajah as he is popularly known, is the advisor for this exciting project. His years of experience and the high standards of his art form has made this amazing artist the perfect choice to canvass together a remarkable list of artists specializing in different mediums from acrylic to oil paints, colour pencils to crayons, sculptures to strips of film.
The inspiration behind Artiseri®? It’s General Manager, Halim Merican. A great admirer of arts he confessed, “I love art. But I will admit it is never a talent that I can ever develop”.
He adds “I have seen so many artists whether they are painters, musicians, sculptors struggle to put forward their creations. So I said, why not. I do have the platform with the numbers of local and international guests that walk into Seri Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur. This is our bit to make great art accessible. Art should never be an intimidating experience”.
Artiseri® (Artistry) as it is called, is a play on words of ‘Art’ and ‘Seri’ from the hotel name, will be open from 26 September 2013 onwards with an official launch on
30 September 2013 by the new National Visual Arts Development Board Director General, the Honourable Haned Masjak.
Displaying Solo and Group exhibitions, Artiseri® will kick off with an evening to introduce 28 artists who will be displaying their work at the gallery. Each month will showcase a different artist and a variety of mediums.
Artiseri® is fully open to the public and purchase can be made directly to support the artist at fair price. The exhibition will begin October 2013 onwards with a batik exhibition.
