With the Halal Certification, Muslim and non-Muslim consumers can select goods without doubt. Therefore, it is essential to obtain the Halal Certification from the Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) (Department of Islamic Development Malaysia). This Certification has eliminated the barriers of the religious and cultural differences and has transcended the classic view that “Halal” is only for Muslims.
Derived from the Arabic word, “Halal” is meant to designate food seen as properly prepared according to Islamic Law which covers the whole process of production. Being internationally recognized, the JAKIM Halal certification is highly recommended for all companies as it is in line with the current global market trends.
The purpose of Halal branding is to ensure and to promote clean, safe and healthy food products. It is also the ISO compliant standard – MS1500:2004 – Standard for the Production, Handling and Storage of Halal food, developed by the Department of Standards Institute and Research Malaysia, SIRIM. The Standard complies with international standards such as the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), the Good Hygiene Practice (GHP) and Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP).
