Mariachi music carefully ask for food do not go around along but stay at one place. OK to visit before 22:00
Great place for Mariachi, go to Tenampa restaurant, is the best. Do not go to La Malagueña restaurant, that one is trash, the server try to switch bills and overcharge you.
Highly recommend going to the Tequila and Mezcal museum in Garibaldi Square. We went in early, around 7 pm on a weekend, easily got a spot. The collection and recommendations for mezcal are amazing, you can also buy what you taste at the adjacent (and beautiful) gift shop. We enjoyed some mariachi bands and a few dance performances while sipping on our drinks.
An historic square from downtown, definitely you have to know because of the Mexican Mariachi music. Here is the most famous Cantina (Saloon) that you have to visit. Unfortunately there's a lot street vendors and a place sloppy.
Walked here from the main shopping promenade 6 blocks south in the late afternoon. It was ok except for the last two blocks. Very sketchy. Too many beggars and druggies.
As for the squareit was loaded with Mariachi bands. Their only goal is to fight it out among the other bands for tips at all the outdoor restaurants. At one point we had three bands playing a cacophony within 10 yards of each other amongst the tables.
Worth a visit when you’ve seen everything else nearby.
The place is very cool! There is a lot of good food and the people there are friendly!
But the restaurant La Malagueña is horrible they stole a lot of people! Please mind this restaurant! I hope they will close this place soon! It's the best for the future of Plaza Garibaldi!
This is a famous Mexican place with Mariachi and tequila, very good for to listen music and drink some spirits but out side looks really ugly and dangerous.. so enjoy in but when you finish and have to go be carefully and never go alone
Iconic place, full of history and tradition, you go there early night to listen to marichi music, the tequila Museum and eat at the food market, real flavour of what Mexico City is all about. Go with a local otherwise prices would be really high, tourist rates!
variety of delicious Mexican food. Home made style at the Mercado. Great ambiance with mariachi and great tequila. Some great dessert as well. Reasonable prices.
Beautiful ! If you go to Mexico City you MUST to visit Plaza Garibaldi, you will find typical food and drinks at a great price. you will find a lot of "Mariachis" and request a song for 100 mexican pesos. Someone told me that has change a lot and that is not secure to visit, please, ignore that and visit the plaza
The restaurant/bar La Tequileria is OK
to drink at, but the food is only OK. I went on Friday and Saturday. I wanted to video record a lot of the mariachis playing. On my second night the bar cheated me 50 pesos on the charge. I watched the money from waiter to the bar and back. The waiter didn't steal the money. It was the people behind the bar. When the waiter was on his way to bring back the change one of the ladies behind the bar stopped the waiter and was talking to him in a very strong and mean manor. He gave me the change but it was short 50 pesos and no receipt was returned to me. I didn't feel like arguing since it seemed like nobody spoke any English there.
Bad experience at the end with about 10.USD overcharge. Wrong attitude when askig account revision. Nice show and family environment.
Great for celebrations and a wonderful place to visit for a Mexican themed party. Mariachis cover the plaza and the cantinas are always full of cheerful people.
Large square known as the place mariachi bands gather in the evening to play. During our visit, there were at least eight present, but they weren't playing. They were going around trying to get people at the cafes on the square to pay them to play. Nobody was biting, so we left around 7 pm. Perhaps later they get momentum to play. A part of the plaza has statues of mariachis musicians flanking it.
Very interesting place. Great spot to relax and have a beer or two. The food I had wasn't great but there are many options. The novelty of the place is really the DOZENS of mariachi groups singing everywhere. They will play just for you, whatever you request. Beautiful music.
