My partner and I took a week of lessons at Plateros and it was the highlight of our trip (that is saying alot since Guanajuato is such a great city). The teachers are fantastic and clearly put a lot of thought into what they do, the school is in a perfect central location and the cost is very affordable considering the quality of instruction. I hope to return one day.

My wife and I had a week of school At Plateros. We have been taking immersion school classes for 4 years now and have been to more than 15. Without a doubt the teaching skill at Plateros was very high, if not the highest. The location is perfect, right in the middle of the historic downtown. We did a home stay at Martha's. She is a wonderful lady with a large and lovely home. What was very pleasant to us was her cooking; lot's of fruits and vegetables and great flavors. Her house is a bit up the hill so unless you have an issue with 10 minutes of walking up hill, we highly recommend it.

My wife and I attended Plateros for 7 weeks and it was a fantastic experience, hands-down. We went to school for five hours each day M-F and at the end of the 7 weeks both of us had conversational Spanish down more or less. A little background on us, my wife is a native French speaker with no formal Spanish schooling background, but lived in Spain for a few months and picked up some there. I learned some from my grandparents as a kid and studied it in high school for 3 years. By the time we both left we were not master Spanish speakers, but could speak Spanish without translating it first in our minds (me to English and my wife to French first) and had few issues communicating in Spanish. Granted, this took work on our parts, but speaking only Spanish and virtually no English for 5 hours a day will do that and keeping up with the homework (it's a reasonable amount). We even went to DF for a week afterwards, sort of as our capstone, and had no problems speaking or understanding people.
Now about the school.it is wonderful and in a fantastic location. Guanajuato is a charming, safe city where it's very pleasurable just to walk around and soak it in. The teachers were great, particularly Roman and Rojelio. They make sure you are progressing and most importantly, they don't coddle you. The school has a great social event each Wednesday night that is a lot of fun and helps you pick up more Spanish. The teachers are pretty interesting people, but so were a lot of the other students we met. There were a few older, retiree-type Canadians and Americans and a bunch of younger 20-something Europeans. It made for a great experience all-around.
If you're looking to learn Spanish in Mexico then Plateros is an excellent choice. I hope to go back myself for 4-5 weeks, so I can be perfectly fluent in Spanish.
N.B. The class sizes are very small (2-4 for all of ours) and you will learn fast.response / report this review -

Plateros Language School in Guanajuato – the BEST Spanish school in Mexico. After a few weeks I spent in Mexico I was really sure that it was the best decision I made.
Travelling is not only about seeing countries, its monuments etc. It is about FEELING THE COUNTRY, it is about LEARNING a new language and getting KNOW NEW PEOPLE.
It is always a great EXPERIENCE if you have all these attributes together. With Plateros Language School you can be always sure that this will happen.
Teachers are always very kind and you will have a lot of fun with them. Learning will be always easy, well if you don´t spend a night in one of the bar in Guanajuato : ) ( Los Lobos, La Dama de las Camelias o Bar Fly).
You will have a chance to speak with them about the different topics and also you will find out the differences between other countries, between people from other countiers : ). Every Wednesday is Plateros Language School organizing a Café Social. The truth is that Café social is not really about the café : ) but about getting know your classmates, teachers more (making new friends) and about having fun with pint of beer or shot of Mezcal : ).
Be sure, while you decide to choose Plateros Language School you will have fun and the time you spend in México will be unforgetable : ). I know what I am talking about : ) and I am already planing my come back. Guanajato is a unique town with the heart and you definitely shouldn´t miss it. Life is too short so don´t waste it and enjoy it in Plateros Language School, Gunajuato.

My husband and I spent three weeks in Guanajuato and decided to take Spanish lessons. After considering the various options, we chose Plateros based on its central location, the flexibility of the program, and the relatively small class size. It was an excellent decision. We were thrilled with the quality of instruction, the warmth of the instructors, their generosity with their time, and the amazing progress we made over the course of three weeks. I've studied French in Paris at Alliance Francaise and so have a very high standard of instruction to compare Plateros to. I felt that I learned much more at Plateros and that the overall experience was much better. I cannot recommend Plateros highly enough.

We had the pleasure of attending Plateros School and thoroughly enjoyed it! The teachers were excellent and went out of their way to make us feel special. I was surprised with a birthday cake and they organized a Thanksgiving lunch for us all, too! And,most importantly, we learned more SpanishI am realizing just how much as we find ourselves conversing with our Spanish friends much more comfortably. Thanks so much Ramon, Manuel, Rojeilo!
