My favorite tourist experience in the area.
This places lived up to what I had hoped it would be.
You can rent bikes or be peddled around in a bike cart for 2. We walked, it takes about an hour and a half to go through it all on foot if you don't spend to long at each ruin.
We spent about 3 hours and I'd have liked around another hour.
It's beautiful and very fun to explore.
There are several different styles of temple and the big one is incredible to climb.
Washrooms are outside the entrance only.
There are a few pub/restaurants at the entrance as well as small shops for both snacks and souvenirs.

The only Mayan temple we could actually climb on our trip, the "Great Hill" was a joy! It can be crowded, so pick your times wisely. Also I would highly recommend renting a bicycle!

One of last pyramid you can still climb. The walk through the jungle to get there is really pleasant. You can rent bikes and cruise through the complex. Simply beautiful!!

Climbing the pyramid was one of the experiences I will never forget. Get the bike to visit the site because it's huge and also try to get early to beat the crowd. Highly recommended

Truly an amazing experience climbing this enormous and ancient structure. The climb up is pleasant if done slowly but the descent is rather treacherous as the stone steps have been rounded and polished by weather and foot traffic over the centuries. Please, be careful as a fall from that height could be disastrous to yourself and other tourists. The history of the site is also rather fascinating.

Tallest Mayan pyramid in the Yucatan. Steep, but well worth the climb so do it while they still allow it.

The guide was worth the money to learn the history and significance of the buildings and practices. When you're ready to head over for the climb, rent a bike and you'll have a breezy trip through the Mayan jungle to Nohoch Mul. Wear a good pair of shoes, wear sunscreen, and bring plenty of water. The climb up really isn't that bad but be careful going down - some steps have become a little polished from so many people.

There are some interesting ruins closer to the parking lot, including a Mayan ball game structure, but Nohoch Mul is the real attraction. It's a bit steep, but there is a rope to hold on the way down. If you climb to the top, you will be rewarded with a view over the top of the jungle. The walk can be a bit much if the weather is hot, but you have the option of renting a bike or hiring a bike-taxi. The area is supposed to be good for birding, but we arrived around noon, and didn't see much. Go early if you hope to see birds.
