Such a great museum. It was amazing to see the difference mummies and read the stories. There is a guided option but you can also just roam the museum on your own. The history and story behind these mummies is a must see.

The "mummies" are actually exhumated bodies from the cimetery. They basically had to make some space for new bodies and noticed that some of these older bodies were still in excellent shape. It is very interesting to see the good conservation state of the bodies.

Amazing and a must see. Could definitely upset kids unless they are prepared by an explanation of what this place is. Some guide books remind people to be respectful when touring this museum because it is filled with disinterred bodies that were once people who lived in the area. Very thought provoking. Takes about 45 min to an hour and a half to go through.

If mummies are your thing, you cannot miss it; if you're really not that into them, you ain't gonna love it. If you're not acquainted with the matter in question this probably isn't going to be a great "mummies for dummies" either since the museum keeps a rather tasteless focus on the matter.
If you come during the weekend or season, do yourself a favour & show up early, since the lines get longer as the day progresses. I also strongly recommend you visit the Santa Paula Cemetery right before or right after. It's just a few metres from the museum & probably much worth the visit than the museum itself.

Coming into this museum with an American view of death, this exhibit felt more like a freak show than museum. These bodies were disinterred because their families couldn't pay to keep them buried. Somehow it felt wrong, but maybe that was just my cultural bias. I feel like the title "museum" was wrong, because you do not leave educated in some way. I don't have a problem with viewing mummies or skeletal remains for an education purpose, but this was different.

Small but great place to learn about the mummies of Guanajuato. Weekends and holidays tend to be busy. One and a half hour wait to buy admission ticket and then enter the museum. Worth the price. Tour guide provided excellent information on mummies.

Very interesting museum. Exceeded my expectations. The fee to enter us very reasonable at 55 Mexican pesos. Once you're inside you watch a movie then guide takes you through the museum room by room explaining everything you need to know and take answers. You can but definitely do not have to tip him at the end. In my mind he was worth it for being so knowledgeable and professional. Worth the visit.

First mummies are interesting to see but the journey to getting to this city is ridiculous. It's full of sharp dangerous curves and long uphill drives side by side with buses and trucks. If you fear heights this might be an issue. I traveled from San Miguel de Allende.

No need for a guide because there is English and Spanish info by some of them.
Nice vendors with little shops outside the museum that are not pushy for you to buy like the guys in the parking lot.
Bathrooms outside are dirty and you must pay to enter.

Nice and unique place to meet these particular mommies. The museum is located next to an old graveyard and it have discounts available for students and elderly people, also the museum has the smallest mummy in the world, being this little kid the main attraction, and a really important point is the prohibition of camera's flash in order to protect the mummies. Additionally there are several stores offering traditional candies and souvenirs

The museum itself is interesting, but very intense and depressing in the same time. It was so strong that I had to walk out at the very beginning they are letting to many people go inside at the same time, it is too crowded It is a cemetery at the end.

It is not for the faint of heart. One should know that some cultures, like Mexican, have a certain fascination with death. With this understanding the museum might make better sense, and even may be more interesting.

Great experience. A must see, the tour is quick so you can move on to different tours. The tour itself is inexpensive and quiet informative.

Twice as expensive as other, much better museums. There is a 10 min video then waited in line for 10 min and then there are maybe 10 small rooms with the same thing in each one. Save your money.

The interesting thing of the mummies is that they are completely natural. They didn't go through a mummification process like in Egypt. They were buried and something underground mummifies them. It's explicit and it even has mummified babies. That crossed the line.

Well, I recommend this place because there is nothing like it I've ever seen. Mummified humans dressed in costumes?! It really doesn't get much weirder and cooler than this.

This place is weird and cool at the same time, but I wouldn't recommend it to everybody, because it's morbid. If you're squeamish you might want to skip this place. It's a very rare type of museum - you should check it out if you can handle it!
