It's big. Sprawling into various streets and blocks. South of Zokalo, this market caters for every item in the household. Also food and fruits. Typical from Mexico, fruits like Mamey are only found here. In between the stalls you find local food stalls selling freshly made tortillas and various filings, some quite unique. Just ask what the ingredientes are, in case you don't fancy trying insects or animals parts not usually sold elsewhere. Also consider the words pimento means (salt (pepper) as opposed to (chilli) that in Mexico City can be quite fiery

Amazing experience. Would recommend anyone who comes to mexico city to visit. The market is a maze of wonders every turn is something new. It is very busy and the produce is fresh and smells amazing. Made some great salsa and fruit daiquiris afterwords. So fresh and amazing.

We arrived the market near to the closing time and use quite a long time to find the real entrance. But is is still a fun experience to explore Mexican culture. You can see great species on chilli, fruits and veritable. We have bought some of It to try when we get back to hotel. Fun!

Abundance in spades. Unless you've been here before, I doubt that you've ever seen so much fresh food under one roof. It's endless in every direction. And it's exhilarating to see everyone in action.

You’ve got to visit this indoor market if you’re in Mexico City. Latin America is famous for its covered markets, which usually have stalls selling local food. This particular market contains seemingly everything from mole sauces to food stalls to fresh fruit juice (only 25 pesos) to clothing to vegetables to pinatas. It is connected to other indoor markets nearby, which is why the area seems so vast. (February 2018)

Amazing place. Disclaimer: everyone I talked to told me not to go cuz I'll get mugged in there. That said, as you will see in my pix, it is very narrow in there which is ideal for pick pockets. Don't be too flashy and hid your valuables in your socks.
Now to the market, it is section after section after section of everything under the sun. I love the candy section and fruits and vegetables. I recommend it but be careful of your belongings.response / report this review -

Amazing crazy market so vast you probably won't come close to seeing it all. You can get just about anything you can think of here and people are friendly to stupid foreigners who speak no Spanish.

This market has unusual esoteric goods for sale for cheap. It is a feast for the eyes. They also sell animals that seem unhappy to be there packed into small cages or too young to be away from their mothers. That part is sad. Don't even wear a chain around your neck or earings if you go here. My gold chain was ripped off my neck. It was still worth going for the unique cultural experience.

This is a massive, sprawling and crowded market that could be best described as organized chaos, but it is well worth the visit. Whether or not you speak Spanish I recommend taking a guided tour (or know a local) We took the tour with Eat Mexico and the guide and tour were excellent.

Exciting, vibrant and hectic - an assault on the senses - in a good way. Spent the whole day, guided by locals, touring this massive market, checking out all the amazing food and wares. Was told to be careful here, but we never had any problems - just stay alert - but you you can easily lose your way and sense of direction. When snapping photos, try not to get in the way of people working and going about their daily lives. So many amazing food stalls here. One of the best experiences I had in the CDMX.
